Do the British own English?

Let's say we did own it. Then what?

Language is a convenience not an obstacle. If the word you use for meaning X is different from the word another person uses for meaning X, then how can you argue over which word is "right" when the goal of each is to allow you to talk about X?

Say what?

I was introduced to the Geordie accent from the movie Plague Dogs(excellent movie) based on the same story by Richard Adams. Great book as well.

I was attracted to it considering how often I heard people talk about the nature of the Southern dialects in America. I love 'em.
