'Advaita' Hinduism (non-duality, monism) takes a step further (I follow that view). We are not just kins, we are constituted by the same stuff that they are constituted with, be it animals or vegetation. We are one.We are kinfolk with the other-than-human persons in our world, and as such, we are to have proper respectful relationships .. even if we fail to always be respectful in our relationships, it doesn't mean that our kin will be as faithless to our relations as we sometimes (maybe oftentimes) are.
