Do Voters Share the Blame for Trump?

The vast majority of Americans support election of the candidate who wins the national popular vote:.
Polls Show more than 70% Support for a Nationwide Vote for President

So why do you oppose democratic election?

Because bribery.

Say a rogue candidate claims to be Democrat, and offers up a campaign promise that all lower income people making less than $50,000 a year will automatically receive a $500.00 check in the mail.

...Guess whose going to win that election but not based on policy. This is how shallow some voters really are.

They could do that now.
And the popular vote usually determines who wins in the EC.
A potential shortcoming is that candidates would cater to a less
diverse majority than one which gives disproportionate power
(per person) to low population states. The Senate does this too.
It broadens the focus of politicians.
The question is whether this benefit is outweighed by the simplicity
& occasional perception of "stolen" elections by the losers?
I don't know.
I'm neither Pub nor Dem, so it doesn't matter much to me.

Those claims are also hard to address.
It's like when posters talk of "libtards" or "Dumbocrats".
Where would one even start to counter such things?

I think this tax reform isn't perfect, but it's a step in the
right direction
, & much better than what we saw under
recent prior presidents. I'd rather eliminate all personal
deductions, eliminate taxes for low wage earners.
But no one in government ever asks me.

Wrong. The economy is tanking, due to RePug policies. Again.

I believe a huge segment of our society voted out of emotion, especially since so much in Washington is partisan gridlock. That I can understand, but what I can't understand is how is it that so many who profess a Judeo-Christian faith are at this time still supporting Trump with all that he has said and done. IMO, they've basically "sold their soul", sorry to say.

Why do you believe it's tanking?
Which policies have that effect, & why?

Every time I bother to pay attention to Wall Street, it appears to be in crisis... again.

The stupid high tariff policies have causes massive job losses, in formerly domestic jobs.

Worse: tЯump continued focus on that stupid wall? Is detracting from what's really important.

And it sure ain't illegal aliens. tЯump's own extended family contains several, alone...

youknowme

Whatever you want me to be.
Well, you were saying you want him locked up, right? And that if he weren't president, we would all want him in prison? I can think of no other reason...

No one in this thread is suggesting he go to prison for sleeping with a porn star; you are clearly just feigning ignorance, which is not being very objective nor is it keeping your emotions out of it. It was an incredibly horrible thing to do to his family, but that part is not illegal.

That helps me understand your position.

I do think tЯump needs prison for raping of under-age teen girls.

Or for treason. Or both.

We already have campaigns that are flooded with false promises, such as "Mexico will pay for the wall", why don't you consider those as "bribes"? Trump was clearly trying to "bride" people into voting for him by promising to give them a wall paid for by Mexico.

Oh give me a break.
My partner works for two restaurants. They won't hire anyone without a background check, a pee test for drugs, and a credit check.
A long history of fraudulent abuse? That sounds really serious.
It is.
It demonstrated that Trump cares far more about acquiring wealth and power and status than anything else.
Like the good of the American people.

Why are you suggesting he be in prison then?

I think you're failing to understand that "free stuff" like personal cell phones and cash handed out is different than building infastructure.

...But these kinds of things can all happen! That's why electoral colleges are all the more important.

Yes, but in a court of law, it's hard to prosecute employers based on their hiring processes. Some jobs even have you sign on the dotted line that you are a citizen... So they're in the clear legally!

That's why it's more common that illegals are arrested at workplace raids than employers.

Bribing voters is against the law, and a president can't just give mass people 500 bucks. Congress controls the budget, not the President. Furthermore the Electoral College gives no such deterrent, and if anything it makes manipulating voters easier, as you only have to focus on key locations.
