Do we reap what we sow?

Do you believe in Karma?..........do you believe what seeds you throw out to the world spring up and bring you back a crop?

I believe on a very small level, yes. That is, if you are mean all the time, people won't like you very much, because you're a jerk. If you are nice to everyone, people will like you and will treat you kindly, so you'll be more likely to get what you want.

On a grand scale, however, I don't believe in karma. That is, if you secretly lie and cheat and steal, you might have a great life, because no one knows that you are doing those things most people dislike, so no one is going to care. So long as you don't get caught, you're going to have a great life, even though you cheated a bunch of people over.

So you believe in karma....a little.........but believe there are people who cheat....and it appears they have good life's and it appears nothing happens to them...Sometimes I have thought that too..But I have a question to you....would you change your opinion?...if you where allowed a small peek into their lives.....behind closed doors..and saw their life actually stucks?...

Maybe. But my problem is that some people are really nice and do everything right and they get screwed over big time, so that doesn't seem very fair.

There's a sayings..I think that goes like this what you throw out to the wind...will come back to you..........some would call it cause and effect.........without getting technical...I think it one of the ancient laws of the universe......maybe someone else can explain it...

The law of karma might be better understood if we consider that we are eternal souls transmigrating from one life to another (reincarnation). That person who for example makes money by exploiting others may be living an opulent lifestyle. But in there next life you will see a different picture- the acts that we do are like the sowing of a seed- and the fruit of this seed might not manifest until the next life.

Thus we see people are born into all types of situations, some pleasant, some horrific- what is the cause? Action (karma) in a previous life.

Another way to look at Karma is from the point of view of 'cause and effect'. Everything within our experience is an effect of a cause, be it sand on a beach,
your car breaking down, or your electricity being cut off. All these are effects of a cause. So in the same way birth in a affluent family is an effect of action (karma) in a last life, as is a opposite situation like being born into poverty or with a deformity- every effect has a cause. We may not understand the details of the cause that produced the effect- but does not mean that the 'cause' did not take place

yes.
you see, there are forces of nature at play in tiferet. They have an extremely weak interaction across the brane, however, they do sometimes manage to effect what we think is random chance.

any energy you put out must come back to you through that network.

Reaping and sowing is another way of saying karma. There is no difference between the two, except that karma is more then just reaping and sowing. It's a little more complicated, it's the thread that binds existence together. One could say accurately, karma is God.

yes, yes, yes, and yes! we most defiantely do! However what we sow all starts within ourselves, it is our thoughts that have the power here. God gave us something he never gave the animals and that was to manipulate our surroundings to suit ourselves, which is quite ironic as we are now destroying ourselves ... anyway getting back to the point, we have the power to be as happy or as unhappy as we desire. if we dont like something we can change it. However, as we all know, there are always consequences. certain actions produce certain results. so the key is to find a happy medium of being happy but it not costing someone else too much!

Also, karma doesn't say that you always get back what you put out immediately. One can be a bad person and live a totally good life, but that's not saying anything for what will happen after that life. I recall something Lord Buddha said in the Dhammapada

"The wicked may rejoice until they have reaped what they have sown, then they will mourn. The righteous may mourn until they have reaped what they have sown, then they will rejoice. To one who does bad deeds, karma may visit him in one of these ways: "Loss of property, loss of a spouse, loss of sanity, or he may be cast into the fire of suffering at death."
