Do Women Really Prefer "Bad Boys"? Here's What the Science Says...

If she can choose between a good looking nice guy vs an ugly nice guy she'll choose the good looking nice guy. If it's between a good looking nice guy and an ugly bad boy it's a toss up. But during ovulation there's always a preference for more masculine, powerful, dominating alphas. If she settles for an alpha then when she's not ovulating she will want a nice guy. It's why women are so hard to figure out for most men, because we've been taught monogamy is the default state. It's not.

There's no such thing as an "alpha human"; early human societies were mostly non-hierarchical. Get this pseudoscience out of here. It's sexist and demeaning towards... everyone, really.

I'm a pansexual male who leans towards cute, androgynous males for my prospective partners and has no desire to reproduce. Where does that leave me in your ultra-reductive red pill schema for human sexuality?

^Pretty much this. You put it a lot more bluntly than I. :p Thanks.

I think part of the problem is how we use the terms "bad boy" and "nice guy". How are we defining them? by "nice guy" do we mean kind and caring, or do we passive, meek, shy, servile? As for "bad boys", I'm pretty sure (mentally/emotionally stable) girls don't enjoy being treated like ****. I think it has more to do with assertiveness and confidence, really. Guys can be kind and sweet, yet confident and assertive and have no trouble finding dates.

Apparently, despite the fact that some women may prefer bad boys to nice guys, most women prefer nice guys to bad boys -- even to the extent of perceiving nice guys as more physically attractive than jerks.

I think perhaps at the teen-aged level, bad boys may seem to have more appeal.....they do seem to gather the girls easily. But as women and men mature, this changes.

Aren't we giving science too much credit here? What it says is a matter of taste!

Anyway, if it's true, then I'm out of luck :p
