Do you believe Donald Trump is criminally culpable for events on or around January 6th 2021?

Is Trump guilty?

  • I have watched all of the Jan 6th hearings so far and I think Donald Trump is completely innocent.

I am asking about any crime, inciting a riot, inciting an insurrection, interfering with Congress, perpetuating a fraud, dereliction of duty, witness intimidation, etc. In answering this question consider not only the events of that day but also the scheming of the days and weeks before.

Somethings to consider.

It's hard to say how I think things should play out. It's not that I don't think responsibility should be taken for this. It's just... a lot of time has passed. A lot of people have moved on. We're starting a new election cycle. People, including Trump, might be preparing their campaigns.

But I will say this. I think any trial should be impeachment and should occur in the House and Senate. He wasn't found guilty during the second impeachment trial about this subject. I can sit here all day and talk about whether the trial went correctly or incorrectly in terms of conclusion, but, I still see it as a matter of impeachment and for Congress to decide.

Obviously not. People are responsible for their own actions, and this entire January 6 propaganda is an attempt to prevent the greatest President of our lifetime from taking office again while shifting focus away from the feral left wing riots that took place throughout 2020.

I'm no expert in laws nor how much evidence is required to indict and then convict, but I am seeing more and more people saying they are convinced there is adequate evidence to indict and convict trump based on what he has seen presented in these hearings. Trump is in serious trouble in Georgia for sure, but it looks like federal crimes are a slam dunk at this point. It comes down to the DoJ and Garland.

It's been a year and a half, and many less serious crimes have statute of limitations that go into 4 to 6 to ten years. I don't see any reason to let Trump off the hook any more than anyone else who has a criminal indictment. One reason the guy is so corrupt is because he has a history of evading justice. I see no reason to let Trump off the hook. If he was sorry and truly admired he made an error, perhaps. But he continues the lie to this day, and seems to suggest he will run again. Many suggest this is a grift and a way to pressure the DoJ to not pursue justice. More con, more crime, and all the more reason to show these kinds of unethical poloitical actors they can't get away with ti.

The Senate was far from being an impartial jury. That was laughable. The majority in the GOP show themselves to lack adequate ethics to judge another corrupt person from their party.

Well...I believe the ex POTUS would have never approved of something so foolish.

Lesson number one: if you want to overthrow a government, make sure the army and the law enforcement are on your side, first.

We had a coup in 1922...but the people was sided by the army.

Then why did everyone around him say he was loving every minute of it?

Trump's clearly not smart to launch a successful coup. He's not even smart enough to learn why the president can't do certain things, learns what foreign politicians actually can do, and there are many quotes from various people around describing him as a "goddamn idiot." He even acts illiterate. Not only has he said he doesn't read he doesn't look like he's capable of reading when you watch him try to read something. He said he doesn't read because he doesn't have the time, I say he doesn't read because he can't. And he talks like he's of average intelligence at best.

Trump felt cheated, and didn't want to go down without a protest.

My Trump supporting friend and I stayed on the phone late at night to find the result. It appeared that Trump was definately going to win (a huge percentage of votes were already counted, and that meant that almost every remaining vote would have to be for Biden to change the outcome.

Suddenly, yawn.....it's too late, lets stop counting and go to bed. WHAT???? My friend and I both said at the same time. We've seen a lot of election counts in past years, and this is the first time that they went to bed in the middle of an exciting count (or any count). Okay, we had to accept that the count was postponed until morning, but my friend announced to her grand daughter that Trump definitely won. I tried to point out that they still had a tiny chance of winning, but she pooh poohed (rightly) that possibility. In the morning, the count continued, and lo and behold, Biden miraculously won. Some said that it was because Trump had instructed his supporters not to write in votes, and those votes are counted at the end (so virtually all would be for Biden). But, they had already counted most of those, so that couldn't have been the issue.

We came away from that election with the notion that the election was fraudulent, and we were upset that Trump, at that time, didn't even try to contest the results. It wasn't until later that a lot more information surfaced (states with 104% of the count. . .you realize that 100% is the maximum). Rumors of dogs voting (but Mr. Ruff Poodell and his wife, Fluffy Poodell denied it. . . kidding). Dead men voting? Felons voting? Illegal aliens voting (would explain luring illegals past our borders). Then many others (including Trump's son) found still more irregularities.

Mind you, these election fraud charges come on the heels of the DNC ruining Bernie Sander's chanced (too old to run again), and Hillary Clinton getting debate questions before the debate. Also, there is the issue of who hacked Podesta (Hillary's election manager, which revealed the debate question scandal). So, the elections were rife with frauds and scandals. . . could this count be yet another scandal? I think that changing the outcome of a presidential election is treason against the United States government, election tampering, and sedition.

Trump Sought to Conceal Plans for March to Capitol, Panel Says

New York Times link (above):

"Appear spontaneous"...Trump team "assembled violence-prone mob." Trump tweet never sent: “Big Speech (South of the White House). . .massive crowds expected. March to the Capitol after. Stop the Steal!!”. . . "bringing the mob fueled by his election lies to Washington." "Trump summoned a mob to Washington, D.C., and ultimately spurred that mob to wage a violent attack on our democracy,” said Representative Bennie Thompson. "Trump’s words and actions united a disparate set of far-right groups and militias and spurred them to plot a violent effort."

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/07/four-dead-after-pro-trump-rioters-storm-capitol.html

"More than 50 police officers were hurt at pro-Trump riot." (link above)

5 dead after pro-Trump supporters stormed US Capitol

"5 dead after pro-Trump supporters stormed US Capitol." (link above).

People do have the right to a peaceful protest, but they do not have the right to endanger or hurt people. Enciting a riot is illegal. Congressmen could have been hurt. There are other channels for protests, other than angry mobs.

Im not really sure how relevant it is whether or not you have personally watched the hearings. One can read good summaries of the key evidence in the reputable press.

For me, the damning thing about these hearings is that so much of the testimony comes from Republican members of Trump's own team. It's impossible to write these hearings off as a kangaroo court, or a Democrat conspiracy, when the evidence comes straight from the mouths of Trump's own people.

It's not just Trump. There is a whole myriad of republican senators and congressmen that need to also be held accountable for their participation in encouraging an attempted violent coup. And if we do not hold them accountable, they will only be all the more emboldened. Not to mention that the rule of law in this country will have become a perverted joke.

Only if that works both ways of the street.

Still I maintain the upper echelon in politics are unofficially above the law as everyone will eventually see that it is indeed the
case.
