I am asking the question is because according to the latest survey by National Geographic, over 60% of Americans do not believe in evolution. By that, I mean they do not think it's a viable explanation of how lives evolved on earth. Anyway, this board seems fun I will probably stick around for a bit.

It's not 60% of Americans but rather 60% of the Americans they asked. :D

Welcome, glad to hear you're going to stick around.

They didn't ask me.

That number also varies by how exactly you ask the question.
Ask it right and the number of people who don't accept evolution drops to around 40%.

Well, evolution and faith are not mutually exclusive, however, I have seen many devout Christians or people who are religious refuse to accept the merits of the theory and believe in evolution. I am curious as to what this stat may look like on this forum.

No, I do not believe in evolution.

Evolutionary theory provides the best model to explain the diversity of life on this planet and the changes we see in the historical record, microbiology, etc.

To me the term believe is too much of an assumption when used as a verb.

I believe the Hawks will lose to Cleveland during round 2 of the playoffs.
I believe it might rain.

Not quite enough when it comes to stating my acceptance as evolutionary theory a valid model of nature based on the vast empirical evidence yet the model is still changing based upon further scientific research.

That and the connotation of believe in evolution to compare it to the same as faith in a religion. The equivocation game of the desperate.
