Do you expect the President to tell the truth tonight?

Tonight (January 8th, 2019) the President is going to address the nation.

The question is fairly simple. Do you expect him to tell the truth? I am not talking about minor errors of detail, but do you expect the address to be overall truthful?

I expect many people will tell me this is a stupid question, because Trump always lies. But the is the President of the United States making a major address about an important policy area. Not a three year old lying about taking a cookie. We can’t just laugh it off.

I also expect a lot of people to justify it by claiming all politicians lie. But we have never been in a situation like this where the majority of people fully expect the President to completely lie about a major policy. You can’t pretend this is normal.

I expect very few people will even try to make a credible case that we can expect to hear the truth.

I expect he will go on a great deal about how scary brown people are, a national security crisis even, and that's why he's considering a state of emergency to get the money to keep the brown people out. Pundits will discuss whether he's 'hurting people he needs to be hurting.' I think I'll skip the whole circus.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I saw that, and thought of fixing it, but then, I had to
think WHAT A GUY and leave it.
Just think if he could do eight more years, he could have doubled that easily to 246%!!

I think I might have underestimated the man where 100% is Never Enough for an overachiever for a guy who's visited 57 states. Above and beyond any past president throughout history !

I say that expectations for either honesty or its evil twin are a bad idea.
It increases the probability of bias confirmation, TDS, & MAGAism.

Actually, Trumps biggest problem is that he does 'tell the truth,' and nobody likes it.
He's got a very big mouth and he says precisely what he thinks. I'm not sure he has a filter between his brain and his twitter account. So..nobody likes it. Not the Dems, not the Republicans. He's really a lousy politician.

I'm still trying to decide whether that's a bad thing or not.

For a head of state? I'd solidly go with it being a bad thing. Back before the election, I'd said that even if that dumpster fire was on board with everything I agreed with ideologically, I wouldn't have voted for them based on character alone. They do not have the temperament for leadership of a city, much less an entire nation that holds sway on the international stage. I fully expect them to continue to demonstrate their lack of qualifications in that department with whatever comes out of their mouth later today.

According to this post Obama told the truth 123% of the time. That makes him the most truthful person ever in the entire multiverse.

Of course drugs will come in one way or another but open borders would be a a huge gift to drug peddlers and all the violence and neighbourhood destroying insanity the drug trade is known to cause. Mexican drug cartels already have quite a number of distribution networks in many cities in the U.S. even as far north as Bellingham, Washington and Manchester, New Hampshire.

Some past presidents on keeping the brown people out:

Bill and Hillary Clinton on keeping out the brown people in 2016 and 1995:

Obama keeping out the brown people in 2013:

All three are clearly xenophobic, racist, bigots

Of course drugs will come in one way or another
Because the USA both
keeps on buying them and also props up the profits of the suppliers.

End the War on Drug Users, and cocaine and pot could be used as landfill. Divert the funds to treatment programs and the problems would mostly go away.

I expect him to exaggerate about what is as any politician in power would do or the CEO of a company. If you are running something you generally have to empathize the good and limit or ignore as much of the bad as possible, I mean if you want to keep your job. I expect Trump to tell the truth about what he wants. Don't really know if he'll get any of it.

I wouldn't trust him on facts. He's not really a fact originated guy. I don't know if I'd call that lying or making stuff up he thinks might be true. I mean if he believe something is true and states it as a truth, does it make him a liar or just badly informed? :emojconfused:

Oh, wait I was supposed to make a credible case that we can expect to hear the truth.

We will hear the truth that Trump wants to exist. I think that about as credible a case as I can make.

When Trump states something that is not factually true, do you think he knows that it is a lie?

Are you even aware that no one is proposing open borders?

No one?
Illegal Immigration: Yes, Democrats Are Now The Party Of Open Borders

"But it came as the "abolish ICE" movement took off among Democrats in the wake of open-borders socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's surprise victory in the New York primaries. She's since called for protesters to occupy ICE offices around the country. The head of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez, labeled her the future of the Democratic Party.
The vote also came after eight Democrats co-sponsored an actual abolish-ICE bill. "

I find it terribly amusing that you expect any politician, let alone Trump, to tell the truth. Though, admittedly it's sort of a necessary evil. If you really think the American public could even actually handle the truth without completely losing their ****. So, I'll deal with a few minor lies rather than dealing with hordes of lunatics.

But, if you think Trump is telling any more lies than the rest of them, you might be getting closer to crazy town. :D
