Do You Fit the "Mold"?

Do you think it has something to do with the size of the Christian population in the Western world? I'm not saying it's right for atheists to act this way, but you've got to understand that it's mostly because that's exactly the attitude they get from Christians, and I'm willing to bet, the reverse of your statements is a lot more prolific than the original.

True, but two wrongs don't make a right.

No, but that's why I made sure to say that I don't condone that type of attitude from atheists, or anyone else.

Good. =D

I'm well aware of why atheists do it, it just seems that they (in my experience) do it more often. Indeed, I would say a lot of atheists these days would have some former tie to Christianity, though.

OK, well, I just disagree. I think more Christians do it than atheists, but we'l just have to agree to disagree there. I'm sure a lot of atheists do have a former tie to Christianity, and it's probably because one third of the world's population is Christian. I do fit half of your mold. I am a former Catholic. I don't think I'm superior to anyone, or anything like that, though. My parents, for instance, are still Catholic, and I can only hope to be as good a person as they are.

That's fine. It's not really disagreeing; it's difference in experience. I grew up as an atheist basically with a group of atheist friends who'd always make fun of the Christians in the school, despite the fact that they never started chanting for us to repent. That's just the way my life has gone; that doesn't mean that my circumstances are the same as yours.

Well, if captain civic's mold is the one, then I don't fit it..

Yeah, like I said, it's based on my experience. I know it's not universally true, due to atheists like yourself. So don't feel threatened. If you don't fit that mold, then I wish I had more atheist friends that were like you.
