Do you "flaunt" your religion?

I believe it is the faith of true Christians that move them to share the good things they learn from the Bible. "Nevertheless, someone will say: “You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (James 2:18)
What works? Like good deeds? Why would that be a show of faith?

When it comes to religious expression, I'm fairly typical. I pray, meditate, read from the Holy Writings of Bahá'u'lláh. When I ask another person about what they believe, they ask back, and I tell them: I'm a Bahá'í. Another thing I try to do is educate people who may not know or understand much about my faith, or correct any misconceptions about it.

flaunt?

The Bible looks down on boasting os wisdom, strength of money
but boasting that one knows God is fine

Jer 9:23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”

If you know that
I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight
you have something to brag about

Nope. Nothing special. If anything I am quite guarded and understated until I can discern if any questions directed at me merit a serious answer. Then I have to figure out how to explain in terms the person asking would likely understand. For that reason, most people get off with a smile and I turn an disappear back into the fabric of probability.

I don't "flaunt" my religious views.
I'd hope my actions a behavior speak volumes.
I don't flaunt being in recovery from alcohol addiction either.
There are many ignorant people that think alcoholics sleep under a bridge with
a bottle of cheap wine.
As an aside google notable people that are or were addicted to alcohol.
Might surprise you.
Another shocking fact for some that didn't know.
President (General) Eisenhower had a Jehovah's Witness background.
http://theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/eisenhower_witness_background.htm
He was one hell of a man and leader.
Another off topic fact. He never was in combat himself.
He was brilliant at logistics however. Moving men and support where needed and
quickly.
He was also General MacArthur's company clerk at one time.
But I digress.

I tend to wear my beliefs "on my sleeve", so to speak, but I don't flaunt it. I never pray or do any other religious activities where I can be seen by others, I prefer to do that stuff in private. But I do talk about my beliefs a lot to anyone who will listen, and I like discussing religion.

Normally, I do not flaunt my religion, because it usually doesn't end well. It's fine here because it's online, though.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
If a religion causes a person to ingratiate themselves, then likely things are not really coming along all that well.

I am an extremely shy and reserved person but I ***FLAUNT*** ;) MY RELIGION!!!!!!!!

I flaunt because I love my religion and making people happy or at least to awake them enough to consider a restraining order against me haha! I love to run and part of my religion is to run as fast as I can from point A to point B. I especially love to run by people at full stride early in the morning to help wake them up and get their heart rate going. Later in the day these people always approach me wondering why I have such a spark in life and ask about my athletic abilities. In addition to running fast sprints my real passion is cycling and it is not uncommon for me to come in 3rd place or above in a field of a 1000 cyclist during a charity or minor race I participate in. The running and the cycling is part of my religion that reminds people to live their life to the fullest and not to be afraid of taking chances to do something amazing indeed!

Ok so the job I have involves a lot of walking, well there are times I briefly stop to gently touch a tree, or listen to the wind as it makes it's symphonic sound of passing by, brushing against leaves, buildings, people and it's wonderful. Or perhaps the precise moment the moon changes from Waxing to Waning, I will conduct a very brief 1 to 3 minute ritual to honor the passing. If people are nearby so much the better because the transition is a celebration of life indeed. I love explaining all the sacred things that are happening around us when we sometimes forget the Earth we are standing on and the wonderful Sacred Life forces that are around us. If my passion and excitement brings a smile to a person's face then I know my religious job is complete for the day! ;)

I have a special ritual at the beginning and end of the day as I bless the door I enter and exit out of from work. I conduct a very short ritual to bless ye who enter and bless ye who leave the building, with safety, happiness and the love they deserve. A few associates caught me one day while blessing the door for the few seconds it takes to do so and I explained to them how I am saying a short prayer to keep everyone happy and safe who enter and leave our building. I hope my prayers bring them comfort in knowing I care for them and wish them well!

From time to time there are all kinds of insects that get trapped in our building so as I ready to leave the building I will gently scoop them up while they are crawling all over my hand as I carefully release them outside to give them a chance to live out their life. Some people have seen me do this so I say with a smile to them that "All life, no matter how insignificant as it may seem is precious, now imagine if this little bugs life has meaning what value your life has as well!" :)

I drive all kinds of vehicles from forklifts, barrettes, company cars, to large capacity trucks and part of my ritual is to bless the 4 corners of each vehicle to pray for the safe operation of each vehicle I use before I drive them on my mission. People have seen my blessings and I just wink at them because they know what I'm doing haha!

Sometimes I might be walking by myself or with some friends when suddenly I will bolt out the door as fast as I can to go outside to look in the Westerly direction before it is TOO LATE! My friends that don't know me too well might run after me asking what is wrong? I usually smile and point to the sun as it is setting in the horizon and then I gently tell them how much I love this sacred moment because I never know how many more Sun sets I will see before it is my time to cross over to the other side.

So yes I FLAUNT MY RELIGION!!! Haha, but I hope my passion for life my extreme happiness for living in the moment, is contagious as I understand that no tomorrow is ever promised and I don't want to miss out one precious moment this wonderful life has to offer. So I live each day as if it is my last, try to be in complete ecstasy all the time, and live my life well so when it is my time to cross over, I will have no regrets and certainly no one will ever be able to accuse me that I didn't live a full life. That is why religion is so important to me and why I FLAUNT my religion all the time to hopefully change lives and put smiles on peoples faces. I can't think of any better way to live! :)

Always wear a pendant, under my shirt. It is a copper pendant with Sri Ganeshji on one side, and Sri Ganesha Yantra on the other. The pendant is treated like a murti, and given the proper rituals, so it is sacred object for me, and not something I would show or be touched by people around.

However since I went to many classes as apprentice teacher, I never wear any religious sign. It 's obligatory. Schools are secular, but agents working for the governement (including teachers...) have to be perfectly neutral, religiously speaking. So, I don't wear my pendant while at work in schools, it would get me in a lot of troubles if it's discovered and it wouldn't be very honest from me.

When returning from the temple, I have no shame in keeping the ash and sindoor in my forehead. It gets me weird looks when am out of "little India" zone, but I don't care. I think those are the only times when my religion is obivous to everyone.

If anyone ask, I always answer, tho. Even if sadly it sometimes turns into a festival of misconceptions

Explain why and how you "flaunt" your religion, or why you don't.

"Flaunting" might include clothes, jewelry, tattoos, proseltyzing, praying in public, etc. Anything that makes your preference known to the world, no matter how subtle or blatant.

Feel free to include stories. Did your outward expression make a difference in the world? Were people nice? Were they mean? Did you meet like-minded people?

Why I dont flaunt: I decided a long time ago that it was in my best interest to keep to myself, and I've found that an unassuming appearance works to my advantage. Revealing my views to friends and family would cause trouble and take away from my enjoyment of life.

I wouldn't use the word flaunt , but people know I'm muslim because I wear hijab.I prefer to pray in prayer rooms/mosques but if it's prayer time and there's no prayer area I'll search for a quiet spot and pray. I express my faith outwardly through prayer, wearing hijab because it's part of my beliefs.

I've had some interesting experiences.. some negative but mostly positive. I try to focus on the positive experiences. I don't know if my outward expression made a difference in the world but I always try to show people through my actions that we muslims are just normal citizens.. peaceful and respectful.

Based on what the original post says, I guess you could say I do flaunt my religion. I am proud of being Catholic. I wear a Miraculous Medal as well as a Brown Scapular and if anyone asks me about religion, I am more than happy to use the opportunity to evangelize.

I flaunt my religion a little bit. And I usually do it when someone expresses interest in it. I also might mention a quote from a teacher or use skillful means if someone is upset about something.

I used to wear a bracelet that represented the four noble truths, and I told myself that when each of the four beads fell off i was going to forget about each one! It was kind of a fun exercise, I guess. No one ever asked me about it

I don't keep my faith a secret but I don't call it flaunting it, either. I wear icons around my neck and all that.

I wear a brown scapular but that's usually under my shirt. What people do often see is my small crucifix and Saint Benedict's medal which I wear together on a chain. My faith isn't a secret, but I don't go about being ostentatious about it either.
