As do I Bastet (write poetry, I mean); do you ever manage to get people to read yours ? - I don't!
Apart from relatively anonymous forums such as these, no. I tend to not want to show them to people, as I'm terrible at receiving criticism. One of the only reasons I have even posted poems on here is because I'm trying to break that reflex. If I've written a poem for a specific person, then I'll foist it onto them and cross my fingers and hope they'll like it...but generally I don't 'get' people to read them.
I remember I got the courage up to use one of my poems as part of my folio in my English class, in my final year of high school (the folio counting for quite a bit of my final mark). The teacher had me totally butcher it, because she thought one of the stanzas was too disjointed and didn't flow as well as the rest (which was kinda the point of it, considering the subject matter  ), and the last two lines were "cliche". I did it, purely to shut her up, but I kept no copies of the rewrite, and maintain that my original was better. :p She was a cow.

*edit* I just remembered that my Literature teacher that year took that very same poem (the unbutchered version), and had it published in a magazine. He took great interest in my poetry, and encouraged me to write. I used to send him my poems later when I was at Uni, and he'd let me know what he thought of them. I'd totally forgotten that until just now...

As I said in another thread, I'm a writer. My first publication, a roleplaying game for the Ravenloft (Dungeons &Dragons) setting, will be coming out in November.

While writing roleplaying games is one of my loves, it's far from my only writing venue. I've got projects in various stages ranging from poetry to short stories to novels, fantasy to science fiction to contemporary fiction, and even a cookbook in the works.

In addition to writing, I also love to sing, bue unlike my writing, I doubt I'll ever do anything remotely professional at it. Some things have to stay amateur in order to remain enjoyable to me!

Yeah, Call of Cthulhu (COC) is pretty bleak, but RL IMO can be very uplifting. See, in RL, you can actually win some fights, while in COC all you ever do is stave off the inevitable. At least that's my take on it.

I take it your work will be for 3rd ed.
Yes, 3.5 technically. It pays to keep everything up-to-date.

I'll keep you in mind!
