Is everyone familiar with the patronymic genealogy in Genesis 5?

Adam =Man
Seth =Appointed
Enosh =mortal
Kenan =Sorrow
Mahalalel = Blessed God
Jared = Shall come down
Enoch = Teacher/ commencement
Methuselah = His death shall bring
Lamech = Despairing
Noah = To bring relief/comfort

I saw this a while back and had to check it out for myself, from what I can find these are the correct meanings of those names and this is the order of them in Genesis 5.

Any thoughts on this?... Coincidence, or does God give us message and meaning even in our names.

Quite a fascinating thought...
:facepalm:

As far as I can tell it is accurate, I have looked up the names myself and these are what the listed definitions for them are, and this is the order and list of names listed in the bible. I am not a real conspiracy theorist, and I have a hard time believing someone has gone through and changed the meanings of names accross the internet to create this effect.

I just find it a very interesting thought, what are the odds that the meanings of any group of names would say something? From a scientific view it is highly improbable, being a man of science the first thing I did was to go and find other lists of names and see if this is reproduceable.

If groups of names have a meaning, then there is something at work that has much more understanding than we do, and it is something that cannot be forged or affected by men, who can go back and change names in history... or their meanings.

I didn't put this up for people to believe it, I put it up here for people to test it as I have, not just it but other names as well.

If you have the time and patience, try the hurricane names lists, try great leaders names oldest to newest, try your own genealogy in order of birthdates etc.

I am looking for other peoples opinions but I am also looking for other people to take a scientific interest and on their own prove or disprove, not just on this name group but on others as well. If five people around the world could individually prove or disprove I think that would have scientific merit.

Another intersting point, if this can be disproven, what does it say about this book, it would look suspiciosly engineered would it not.

We have a lot of good minds in one place here, let us prove or disprove and become more knowleageable than we were yesterday.

Yes this was my intention from the start of this thread, even if I myself can prove or disprove, it means nothing unless someone else completely unconnected to me can get the same the results and come to same conclusion.

If proven we may have a great means of gaining more understanding, understanding that cannot be forged by human will and desire.

If disproven one must wonder why the person or persons added this into the Genesis account, what would have been their motivation etc.

Either way we learn something new.

It's entirely reproducable. Take a set of arbitrary symbols, say like tarot cards for instance, and shuffle them. Then lay them out in a pattern on the floor. Look up the meanings for each card, and a message will always appear. Invariably.

It's called an oracle.

Are you familiar with the name Chuck Missler?

My name means super awesome jedi ninja pretty pretty princess. It's a mouthful, but it's so true.

I concur.

My name is also the name of a shrub according to most sources, but I think it means "make her happy otherwise she'll rip your head off and stuff unimaginable things down the throat of your lifeless corpse."

I think it's more accurate.

Apparently my first name means "protector", my middle name means "manly" and my last name means "marsh dweller".
Lol. Imagine if names still reflected jobs. You'd be a manly bouncer for a club in Louisiana or Savannah or maybe you'd be like Steve Irwin. Either if your name reflected your job it'd be pretty crazy.
