Do you offer your food to God?

this hapens in so many families , and it is the wife or girlfreind who ends up feeling guilty because she is trying to keep everyone happy but she is not happy herself ,
may I make a suggestion you could make even the simplest fruit salad and serve this with a fruit juice on a small plate as you said before kept only for offering , prepair this first before you begin to cook the foods that others prefer , you can offer it so simply with a short prayer , then whilst your offering is being partaken of you can cook for your personal requirements , but every day you will have prasad for desert

so every one is happy , ....later you can tempt your boyfreind to some more satvic dishes , Ha ... women have to be very clever to train the men into some more satvic eating habits ;)

starting with cakes and sweets allways seems to help and gopal will surely enjoy these :)

LOL Krishna He, mataji, your post made me laugh at home! You are right! I should be able to do even the simplest things, even fruit salad and juice sound wonderful. And most sweets are of a sattvic nature anyways.

I hope to be eating more fruit in my diet, and evidently, prasada! :p And he will always enjoy more sweets and desserts anyways. :)

I gave away my Deities though because a girl friend of mine did not have any, so I gave her my Gaura-Nitai murtis. I hope to get one soon as well.

Jaya Sri Krishna!

Good point !!! It is important for me to remember that all the discipline we engage in are just that... a discipline a type method or practice to bring us closer to our true Self.

Yes, you are right. God has no need for any prayers, but only for our own purification do we allow ourselves so many rituals, ceremonies, sadhana, etc.!

No, I do not offer food to Mata ji and Shri Shiva. I am very forgetful and haven't been keeping much to any kind of pooja schedule. I used to offer pooja every Monday (to Shiva ji) and Tuesday (to Mata ji) but I have been slacking off as of late.

I can't bring myself to perform pooja anyway because the house is such a mess! How can I offer anything to Mata ji when my house is a pig stye. Shri Lakshmi is definitely not residing in my residence!

Ahahahaha Every Diwali and Lakshmi Puja I say she is going to fly right past my house. :D

Lakshmi might be encouraged to come visit now - I cleaned the house (finally) but I don't think so. She will want me to clean all the clutter as well!

Wanna take a 22 hour flight to NJ to clean a house that desperately needs it? You might get good karma points! :biglaugh:

It's okay. My home is very much a mess of a tornado! But I hope that you'll be able to do puja soon!

If you're willing to pay for it, Jai! There'll be a lot of 'why do you have this? Throw it out' going on however!

dear gaura priya ,

LOL Krishna He, mataji, your post made me laugh at home! You are right! I should be able to do even the simplest things, even fruit salad and juice sound wonderful. And most sweets are of a sattvic nature anyways.

there you see it is easy start with sonething simple , only increase when you know you are able to keep it steady , many people make their deity service too complicated ,and try to replicate temple worship , then they have made a big worry for themselves and put them selves under presure and this is not the best way to serve , as one canot do it with love if one is under stress.

I hope to be eating more fruit in my diet, and evidently, prasada! :p And he will always enjoy more sweets and desserts anyways. :)

you could start with fruit then introduce one full meal without the onions and garlic once a week that way gaura nitai will slowly convert the taste buds of your partner ;)
so then you will have fruit prasad every day and a celebration on sundays or which ever day you choose :)

I gave away my Deities though because a girl friend of mine did not have any, so I gave her my Gaura-Nitai murtis. I hope to get one soon as well.

Jaya Sri Krishna!

Like you Gauraji,

I just say the mahamantra sometimes and offer in my heart food to Sri Krishna.

I'd like to learn a formal, for lack of better word "grace" before eating but haven't found the right sounding one.

Still looking !
