Some people are enemies. They either intend to harm you or are willing to do so. Shouldn't such a person be viewed as an enemy and treated accordingly?
Well, we are animals. Do you find that offensive or degrading?
All life fits into one of five kingdoms. We are not plants, fungi, protozoans, or bacteria. Ours is the animal kingdom. Would you like a separate kingdom of living things designated for human beings? Or perhaps you think that human beings should not be classified with other life.
By acknowledging your animal nature and examining the rest of the animal kingdom, you can better understand human behavior, which, like our fellow animals, includes aggression.
That's admirable, and I too hate nobody, although I have in the past. Still, that doesn't mean that some of people are not our enemies or able to become your enemy or mine..
No need, either. Love, which I define as a feeling of inclusion that manifests as self-sacrifice in the interest of the loved one, is reserved for those that are not enemies.
Frankly, I don't know what is being asked of us when told to love enemies. What are we being asked to do more than walk away without harboring a grudge or seeking revenge?
That's the point of revenge. Sometimes, people that have been hurt want to hurt back.
