Do you see other human beings as enemy?

Then you are either uninformed or lead a sheltered life.

I would guess you never had your home invaded and family or yourself threatened.
I would guess you don't live in a country invaded by outsiders for beliefs that have killed family and friends and destroyed whole villages.
I would guess you are not the wrong skin color in an area where that skin color is constantly belittled and wronged even jailed just for being the wrong color.
I would guess you are not the wrong religion see above
I would guess you are not the wrong sex in a country that takes away your very basic rights just because you are not the sex in power.
I would guess you are not LBGT in a country where it is illegal to be so.

Besides this people are individual no 2 are the same. Are you saying that you can only understand your own beliefs and not understand people different from you.

Funny thing about this.

In liberal America, whites are second-class citizens. I know people don't believe me. But in the US right now, only whites can be racist. In the US only males can be sexist.

Why are whites considered the only racist people?
It is impossible for women to be sexist towards men

America is currently under siege from hostile forces, from illegal immigrants to crazies with extremist ideologies. Unlike the person who said he didn't understand, I have seen firsthand how white males are treated, as I used to be one (I'm trans). As far back as like kindergarten or so, I had a "teacher" who basically blamed males for anything that went wrong, and saw them as worthless.

Why do people see others as adversaries? Because they've already behaved as adversaries, insulting and abusing others just for who they are. I don't ever feel like a male anymore, because my sense of identity as one is basically shot. I only learned to like myself as a woman.

Why do people see some people as their enemy?
I just dont get it.

I wouldn't go so far to say I don't get it but I sure can't relate to it because I won't allow myself to. When someone offends me, attacks me, even harms or tries to manipulate me my first reaction may be anger. In some cases extreme anger, but I always quickly dismiss it, even in it's extreme case. Why? Because it's potentially an emotional trap. I make the distinction of acting upon anger rather than the natural response. Injustice, unfairness, harm to people or children anger me, but I don't act upon that anger. Especially with violence or spite or vengeance because I recognize that I'm capable of making the same kinds of mistakes, or mistakes equal to those, even in the extreme.

This is what my Bible study of sin and forgiveness has taught me. The mild offense and the gross offense comes from the same place. Sin. In as much as without sin we would have neither.

So there's those two sides of anger. The natural and the harmful places it can take you if you react poorly to it or it comes from some weakness or flaw of your own. Ego, for example. The damaged ego can be a catalyst for really unfortunate behavior.

ok.....no hard feelings
but do you understand the word?.....enemy

note previous post

We have to try not to consider any person an enemy. This is no easy path and not many can walk it, one that did was Abdul'baha and this was His advice;

"Bahá’u’lláh has clearly said in His Tablets that if you have an enemy, consider him not as an enemy. Do not simply be long-suffering; nay, rather, love him. Your treatment of him should be that which is becoming to lovers. Do not even say that he is your enemy. Do not see any enemies. Though he be your murderer, see no enemy. Look upon him with the eye of friendship. Be mindful that you do not consider him as an enemy and simply tolerate him, for that is but stratagem and hypocrisy. To consider a man your enemy and love him is hypocrisy. This is not becoming of any soul. You must behold him as a friend. You must treat him well. This is right. (‘Abdu’l-Bahá, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 267)

Abdul'baha did live such a life. Many a story told. One person treated Abdul'baha badly for 30 years, then he saw his error and embraced the friendship of Abdul'baha.

That is what we are asked to do.

that's ok.....

in the mean time.....I am not a punching bag

on those occasions when struck.....
I would stand in place and look my attacker.....in the eye
wait
and then carefully move away

some (and it has happened) will jump on your back as you step away

enemy....will do you harm

and you are not born to be someone else's whipping boy

Do you lock your home when you go out?
Do you lock your vehicle when you leave it?
QED
I live in an area where i dont need to lock the door if i dont want to, I dont own a car.
But i understand where you want, Should someone brake in the home and take my things, i would not think much about it, because physica things no longer mean anything to me.
I buy it, use it, then its gone.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
I have cultivated Buddhism for more then 20 years with meditation mostly every day. and my mind is more or less empty of thoughts i am not interested in thinking.
This could be a clue for me...... if you have discarded everything, have no things, cling to nothing of value, then, indeed, you have reduced the risks of thieves and robbers taking interest in you..... massively.

Yes i live a mote secluded lifestyle then most people who are not Monks, but i have dedicated my life to the lifestyle i live.
Again, if you have removed yourself from the World, from people, then people are much less likely to be a risk in your life.

But for those of us who live amongst other people, we who do accept mammon and material possessions, we do need to secure ourselves against thieves, robbers and attack by others.

Fair enough.
If you have nothing, you have no thing to lose.

I have things, and my wife and her security interests me greatly, but in a tiny tiny way I understand your position.

My car is old and tatty....... few thieves would want it, covet it, or need it for crime.
My bicycle looks tatty and I don't have to worry about it when in shops etc.
Mostly everything in my life can be replaced easily.

The last year have been maybe the year i been most secluded, i been in to town maybe 5 times in 2018 and beginning of 2019. But honestly i am not drawn toward it like i was when i was younger.
And yes my attachments to the thing you asked about is very little and i feel i dont need much. Just the dhamma and the cultivation is still important to me, and my fianceè but she accept the way i live because i was similar to this when i met her

Why do people see some people as their enemy?
I just dont get it.

Because the wickedness of the human race
and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
His motives may be varied
The love of money - which is the root of all evil
Sometimes for the dumb reasons

How does Dharma protect you?
That is simply stating that an advaitin with a belief in the eternal Consciousness takes regular steps of dharma to protect himself from harmful elements in society and deal with injustices properly, diligently and infallibly. It comes automatically to him or her to be able to do that. One does not care for God but deals with matters from ones own genetics which gives one the wisdom to act knowing that the meditation on Consciousness gives him the edge in all legal matters when resisting persecution from the State.

We are Human with the ability to choose.

Be an amimal, or worse, or be the virtues for the good of all.

Regards Tony

That is a non sequitur. Being able to choose (assuming we can and we are the only ones who can) does not entail not being animals.

If a property is satisfied only by one member of a set, that does not entail that the member does not belong to the set.

For instance, bats can fly and use echo navigation, and they are probably the only ones being able to do that. That does not entail they are not animals.

I was about to say that thinking logically would have been the real difference, but I had to think twice, lol.

What you have said about liberal America is only true in News's Broadcasts. All ethnic groups have racists in them and both sex's are sexist. The News Broadcasts want to make money so they push the issues that give them more viewer's especially in an era where people are turning away from TV. You have access to the internet seek out the truth and you will find it. If you only go to sites with your view point than you will only find your view point.

As to your sense of identity being shot by what anybody says, that is your problem. You need to have belief in your own worth and not what entertainment personalities define you as. The entertainment personalities need you and will constantly drive down your worth to make money, if you want to allow it, its your life enjoy.
