Do you think that Donald Trump is a Christian?

Trump attended a Christian church.
Clearly, the membership had no idea.....
Well, that's that then. :)
Question: Which was President Trump's regular Church? That would sort the question for sure.

It is odd that people question Trump's religion, yet no one questioned W. Bush's.
Can we ask that now then?
Do you think that W Bush was/is a Christian?

Trump seems honest and somewhat hard working.
President Trump would definitely claim both of those attributes.
But is he really honest, do you think?

Hello Tony!

Does this mean that to be a Christian, to be recognised as a Christian, Trump only has to say that he is a Christian? Is that about right?

Hello OB, great day to you. The Bible gives that guidance. If as an individual we wish to offer we are a Christian, that is the best place for us to find out what it means to be one. I am sure you would have read the passages.

Now for our own selves, the age old advice we should implement, when we consider the faults of others, is the question of who will throw the first stone.

Regards Tony

I don't know, but I think it unlikely.

If I correctly understand the rule, then regardless of his statements and actions, regardless of whether he adds ax murder to his crimes or gives away his golf courses to the poor, he's a Christian IFF he accepts "in his heart" ─ holds an authentic belief ─ that Jesus is his savior.

And otherwise he's not.

Of course, I may not correctly understand the rule. Or there may be many other versions of it.

I think that you are the first to make mention of authentic belief.

Henry VIII always claimed to be a true Christian, which just boggles my mind when I think of his ideas about humanity. Of course he did get chucked out of the Catholic Church, just joined with another.......

Yes.... I expect that some nazi concentration camp guards went to church..... if so that does devalue the religious title somewhat.

YES/NO.

I can only offer they should be known by their deeds, as a name is nothing, if it is not shown in deeds.

I am still too busy trying to be a Baha'i.

:D

I look forward to bed, as just drive 600km back from the Tablelands FNQ.

Regards Tony

Do you think that Donald Trump is a Christian?

I really do want to get an idea of what members think......
This question has been sparked by conversation on another thread .......

OK... I have seen President Trump hold up a big black book which looked like a bible. He held it high for pictures whilst standing outside the church by the White House. I think it might have been upside down, but that's the kind of mistake that I would make. He has referred to his Christian supporters on telly, and I don't know much else about his own religious 'position'.

So........ Please....... what do you think?

Well considering that so many self-identifying "Christians" act like him and support him, it wouldn't really make much of a difference whether he was or wasn't.

Apart from the fact that he doesn't even attend church and stuff....

The only thing Donald Trump believes in is Donald Trump.

He may be christened and belong to a Christian church but I see no Christianity in his conduct.

In a way, it would be interesting if someone could point his Christianity; I cannot see it myself.

Ah .... yes.....
Christian is as Christian does, kind of thing?
Fair enough. :)

If he is, his actions certainly doesn't reflect Jesus' teachings. Instead, based on Trump's two co-authors who lived with him for months, he appears to be much more into the religion of Trumpism.

He doesn't even know basic Christian doctrines. He is completely ignorant of it. Remember "Two Corinthians"
Plus his last two pastors publicly stated that neither of them ever saw Trump at any of their religious services.

I think the only god he worships is himself. I really don't think think he believes in any god. Some ex-Trump aides and staff have admitted that he thinks Evangelicals are stupid

He was baptized a Catholic, so in the Catholic view, he was certainly, irrevocably Christian.
Don't scare me like this!

Trump went to Sunday school and was confirmed in 1959 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens.[34][35] In the 1970s, his parents joined the Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan, which belongs to the Reformed Church.[34][36] The pastor at Marble, Norman Vincent Peale,[34] ministered to Trump's family until Peale's death in 1993.[36] Trump has described Peale as a mentor.[37] In 2015, after Trump said he attends Marble, the church publicly stated he "is not an active member" of the church.[35] In November 2019, Trump appointed his personal pastor, televangelist Paula White, to the White House Office of Public Liaison.[38] In October 2020, Trump said that he now identifies as a non-denominational Christian.[39] -- Donald Trump - Wikipedia
