do you think prayer will help your favorite sports team win?
call me crazy, but i bet there are christians on both sides praying their team wins.

do you think prayer will help you get a certain job?
again i'm sure there is more then one christian looking for the same job

will it help you get accepted into a certain school?
especially when you are competing against other christians

if you get sick, do you think the chances of being healed are
higher because you pray?

how about when you're taking a long trip across the country by car,
do you think prayer will help you get to your destination safely?

do you really believe god cares and thinks your needs are
more important than anyone else because it's you praying?

I usually don't pray for frivilous things I don't need. Usually prayer is more about worship for me then it is about benefiting myself.

My prayer life sucks. I got tired of praying for things that never came to pass. Yet for some reason God seems to favor my wretched arse in that things I would pray for seem to happen. For example the dress my teenage daughter bought to wear to her semi-formal dance would be outlawed in many countries. While I was debating with myself as to what to do about it (like infect her with a rhino virus two days before the dance) the zipper broke on it and she wound up buying a much more respectable dress as a substitute.

God works in mysterious ways.

I think prayer is magic. It's the same as casting spells and I don't know if they give me an advantage or not, but they do help me get through the rough times. It's really just a part of my ritual meditation.

There a whole branch of psycology that show's how prayer(they don't specifically say prayer) helps. NeuroLinguistic Programing

Really basically it says that by saying something over and over again you can train yourself through reprogramming to make it happen.

It will not work if you pray for others but if you pray to get through an illness, to be a better person, or for peace of mind it may actually work for you.

It depends on how much you believe in their research.

All the more reason to pray even harder. With both sides asking for God's help, the side with the most prayers wins. You can't beat God, and God goes with the team that likes him best!

How can you be sure it's God?

Even if it's a supernatural agent, maybe it's the Devil leading you astray. How would you know?
