I have dabbled in it but don't really use it

It doesn't really work, that's the thing for me

It doesn't fully hide the ignored people from my view so I don't think there's any point in using it

If I want to ignore someone then that means I want them completely gone!

As far as I care RF has no ignore feature!

I have one person on ignore because I find them irredeemably toxic and they contribute nothing to what goes on here I have no idea why they actually come here

And another because they only post random word salads

And one more because they annoy me and are smug and dismissive but this person was new and may no longer be here, I don't know........

But none of those three are all that active, as far as I can tell

There is one person I used to have on ignore but only because they ignored me, but I didn't have the heart to keep them on ignore and they do make good posts and don't both me so I have no real reason to want to ignore them other than for tit for tat

I use it. Personally, I see no ideological difference between scrolling past someone without reading them and ignoring them. Either way, I'm curating my media consumption to be what I think is constructive and omitting what I don't consider constructive.

I'm all for seeing different points of view but there are perspective I find gross and don't feel like they would care if I said so, so there's no point it either expending my energy to try and change them (which rarely happens in online discourse anyway) or reading toxic content in my free time.

That said, people can and do change and I rarely have people ignored permanently.

Im currently testing if i want to use it. Ive recently ignored a few people.

I've never used it.

I've wondered how many ignore lists I've ended up on, though.

I think I've ignored you once. If so it was by accident. Sometimes I've accidently ignored a few people. I catch it immediately however because i likely was trying to start a convo with someone or follow them and accidently hit it.

The main reason I've started using it is because of some transphobic people on this site and it bothers me reading some posts. Just being mildly transphobic won't get you on ignore but if you continuously spread hate over and over and it crosses a certain line then the person gets put on ignore. It's also not just transphobic either but bigotry in general that bothers me I saw one person on here who continously posts stuff that's transphobic post something horrendous about male rape victims and that was the first person I put on ignore. I had had enough of such hateful nonsense

But the folk that are like this have to cross a huge line for it and repeatedly.

Edit: like if your hate causes you to say things like male rape victims can't be raped or transwomen are a threat to regular women as it'll allow rapists in bathrooms...and youve posted really bad hateful stuff in the past...i aint got the time for that mess.

I don't even know what the ignore feature is, or what it does. Why would I need a special feature to ignore a post?
What's its utility?

I'm here for fun so I used it occasionally when i came across real reason to use it because a slap across the face was not an option.

I started using more it when i was told by staff to use it. ;-)

Skipping through my ignore list i realised there is another category, rarely used. The type or person (and i use the word person in it's widest possible sense) that makes my skin crawl, those i cannot stand.

Some people use the ignore function, while others don't. Some have previously used it but no longer do, some have previously avoided it but now use it, some have always used it, and some have never used it.

Which group are you in?
I've just emptied my ignore list, but even so I stay in the "always used" category, as I'm prepared to use it on anyone whose posts aren't worth the time to scroll behind them.
