Do you wear Holy Underwear?

Does it have Masonic style symbols on it? Compass and the other thing?

They have four symbols on them, but they are LDS symbols - not masonic. The masons also use two of the symbols, but they have different meanings to the LDS than they do to the masons. I don't think that the masonic symbols have anything to do with Christ and his commandments. The symbols on the LDS temple garments do. They are presented differently, and have different meanings. I wouldn't call them Masonic. I'd call them Mormon.

I'm sure you're aware that the cross is also used by many different people and cultures and has symbolized many things throughout history. This doesn't mean that the meaning is the same and it doesn't mean that Christians should be associated with those groups. It means that more than one group in history has figured out how to take two lines and make them represent something to them.

Thanks Jonny, it doesn't have any siginifcance to me either way, it is personal to you guys but I remembered reading it somewhere once and I wondered if it was true or an exaggeration / conspiracy theory.

No problem. I don't know what point the author of whatever you were reading was trying to make. Yes, these symbols are used by Masons, but before they were used by Masons they were used by other groups - including Christian groups. This makes sense, since Joseph Smith believed he was restoring, not creating, the things associated with the temple.

I know what you're asking!

I don't have a skin problem per se, but I used to get hot and itchy real easily. I was worried wearing garments would only make it worse. To my surprise, it's never been an issue. A friend of mine had the same experience.

Like most underwear, you have a variety of choices when it comes to material. I'd encourage you to try a few different kinds before settling on the material you like.

To my knowledge there is cotton, cotton-poly, and other synthetics.

Oh right ok! Thanks Nutshell!

It is definitely something you have to get used to. I wouldn't worry about it too quickly though. Most Latter-day Saints don't go through the temple until they are getting married or going on a mission. Since I don't think you're planning either of those in the near future, it will probably be a while before you have to wear garments. When you do, there is a variety of fabrics to choose from and they are easily covered by most clothing.

Thanks Jonny - no I think it will be anothe 5-10years before i consider getting married! :)

Someone would stoop so low to ask about our underwear? :cover:

I'm sorry if you find this Thread offensive. As you can see, some of the LDS members on this site state that there is divine protection in wearing LDS undergarments. We are told in the Word of God to take every thought captive and make it obedience to Christ. When you look at various religions around the world, there are many strange spiritual practices. For instance, my parents were born and raised in Hawaii. I used to visit Hawaii almost every year in my youth, so I understand the culture. The ancient Hawaiian had some very strange spiritual practices that were destructive. I believe religious superstition is a bondage. Christ came to set us free from superstitious spiritual bondage. Consider some of the 3rd world country that are not Christian. The people are starving, but their world religion prevents them from eating beef, or allowing rats to destroy their crops due to false spiritual superstition. Human sacrifice has been a spiritual practice throughout history. Therefore, spiritual undergarment is a significant topic in discerning truth from error. Fortunately, your undergarment will not cause you to go hungry, but it will make you hot and uncomfortable in the summer. I've been to the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. I know Utah can get very hot at times. Does spritual undergarments prevent you from wearing shorts in the summer heat? Are you guys allowed to wear bathing suits at the beach, or when you swim at lakes, rivers, and pools? Do you have custom bathing suits with spiritual undegarments attached to them? Thanks for discussing spiritual things with me.

All religious belief is superstition. The belief that one day Christ will come back and all "good Christians" will be "raptured" is a superstition too.

BTW, why is it any business of yours what kind of underwear people wear?

Many spiritual beliefs or practices seem strange to the one not practicing the spiritual belief/practice. Your beliefs are outrageous to much of the world.

The garment does not make me hot and uncomfortable during the summer. I wear shorts almost every day. I swim, bathe, make love, shower, play sports, etc. without wearing them.

It might seem like a big deal to you, but it's only a big deal because you make it so.

I'm Heffer!!!
Does it really matter if people do or dont - at the end of the day it is underwear to everyone else and a PERSONAL reminder to them of the covenant with God. Although what I would like to know, doesnt it get hot in the summer? I have been trying to wear t-shirts with sleeves in etc to get the idea of it and i get sooooooooooo hot! :)

Youre wearing sleeved t-shirts to get the idea of what its like to wear holy underwear??? This thread is funny and equally confusing!! LOL!!!:D :D

Sort of but not really, it went slightly off topic. because the underwear has sleeves it means you cant wear strap tops. So I tried t-shirts and I am hot in that nevermind a vest underneath it! :) I agree this thead is funny! What are you confused about? :)

She wear sleeves because that is modest and it covers our garments. Honestly, would you people leave our underclothing alone? I do not go around ask about yours, please do not make a big deal out of mine.
