Does 1 John 2:17 imply an afterlife?

Physical bodies do not get resurrected as physical bodies and live on Earth, they get resurrected as spiritual bodies and go to Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:40-54)
Yes, the righteous and the unrighteous will live together on Earth, and eventually the unrighteous will choose to become righteous..

Only those who are part of the first or earlier resurrection get resurrected as spirit bodies and go to Heaven - Rev. 20:6
Flesh and blood ( physical ) do Not go to Heaven - 1st Cor. 15:50
People like those of Luke 22:28-30; Daniel 7:18 go to Heaven. Heaven is for those saints/holy ones.
They go to Heaven in order to govern with Jesus over Earth for a thousand years - Rev. 5:9-10
Starting with the living righteous ' sheep ' at Jesus coming Glory Time - Matthew 25:31-34,37 - they remain on Earth.
A person must die in order to be resurrected either to Heaven or later on Earth - Acts 24:15
If the unrighteous choose to remain unrighteous and even become wicked they will Not inherit the Earth.
ALL the wicked will be: destroyed forever - Psalm 37:38; 92:7; 104:35; Proverbs 2:21-22

I don't believe that dead people come out of their graves and live on earth again in a physical body but you are free to believe that if you want to. Christians interpret Bible verses differently which means they can have more than one meaning. More than one meaning can be correct but some meanings are not correct...................I do not interpret that verse literally, so I don't believe that the heavens will literally be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat, as I don't even believe there are any physical elements in heaven, only spiritual elements.
However, I do believe in a new earth in which righteousness will dwell. I also believe we are already living in the Day of God so there is nothing to wait for. If people were looking they would see.....................................

Dead people don't have to literally come out of their graves but just be penciled in God's book of life.
ALL the resurrections that Jesus performed were happy-and-healthy physical resurrections.
Jesus was giving us a small sample, a preview, a coming attraction of what resurrecting he will be doing on a grand -global scale during his thousand-year reign over Earth.
Right , the literal heavens will Not be destroyed.
In Scripture often lofty governments are meaning as over the people as heavens are over the Earth.
Paul was Not referring to the Periodic Table as being the elements but rather the elementary base badness on Earth.

Does 1 John 2:17 imply an afterlife?I think it does.Because it says people who do the will of God live forever. And it can't be talking about living forever physically.Or people who do the will of God would never die.:)

Frank, you've previously posted different threads relating to the afterlife and included scriptures that seem to infer one. So, I'd like to know if you have already decided what you believe about the afterlife based on your understanding. I've already shared my opinions of what the Bible claims will transpire (such as in this post here), but I'd like to hear yours as well. Frank, I'm asking you specifically.

I believe heaven and hell are real. And that the story of Lazarus and the rich man.Are based on real places. And that when you go to the lake of fire. You stay there forever burning. And that God is making a new earth and heaven. For all the people not in the lake of fire to enjoy.:)

That's the loving God Christians believe in? That doesn't sound very loving to me.

The will of God never changes, meaning He doesnt sway to human ability or intentions. He stays concrete. I love that about God what worked and motivated Him to work back then is forever and histrionic. The will of God is forever, meaning even in heaven, God has the same requirements.

What would you prefer a stubborn friend who stayed true and remained the same, or a friend who changed the way he worked to get certain things. Being the same all the time also shows fairness and humbleness and it shows genuine behaviour.
