I'll be in the astral after I drop my physical body. I'm in no hurry.

As to lucid dreaming, it's OK if it happens but I have no interest in cultivating it.

I've personally experienced an out of body experience, which happened to me when I was 13 years old. It happened promptly after I had a fainting spell from hyperventilating and holding my breath in such a way that I'd forced myself to pass out. When I woke up from this fainting spell, I was floating outside and above my body. While I was floating outside and above my body, everything in the room started spinning around me and then became brightly illuminated with a blinding white light which blinded me until I descended back into my body.

I love my lucid dreams. Sometimes I walk around in them in wonder at everything around me and the fact that it's all coming from my own mind.

Since both require a normal dream life, and I don't have one, I find I can't, despite wanting to.
My experience with Lucid Dreaming happened just once, and was nothing from a comic book.
A four year old trapped in a Lucid Dream where, in a family gathering, everyone slowly turns
into demons, and you can't escape, is literally a life-long trauma similar to PTSD.
(The subjective duration of the dream was hours, ending with locking myself in a bathroom)

Lucid dreaming is pretty cool.

Astral projection is bolloks. Otherwise I'd peek to see where the winning scratch off tickets go.

Frank, have you experienced astral projection yourself? If so, can you briefly describe your most interesting experience that suggested this was not just your imagination running wild?

No astral projecting, but I have had a lucid dream, on a few rare occasions, which is really unrelated to any actual astral projecting if there is any of that. Lucid dreaming would not last long for me because I soon was waking up.

I had finally succeeded in having three OBEs, all during mid-day naps, almost a year ago. It really is a different experience from regular dreaming or even lucid dreaming. The first one started during a lucid dream.
But for the life of me I haven't been able to do it again since then. Not sure what it was that enabled me to do it the few times I did, but it was pretty darn cool.

I've personally done it a few times. It's okay. Mostly annoying. But then, it's only ever happened when I wasn't trying. I can never get myself to do it on my own.

Note: I realize there are those who don't believe, and that's fine. I am just sharing my own viewpoint.
