Does anyone around here have good video making/editing skills?

I want Khilafah back
Hi everyone, I have begun a little project which I hope to be very successful and I need to make some videos. I have the program Windows Live Movie Maker, but the videos that I can make through it are very amateur and not very professional looking nor very attractive.

If anyone is good at making videos, can you please show me some of your videos if they have been uploaded somewhere on the net. And if I like your work, can you please tell me what program it is that you are using and how/where can I learn how to use it properly and make the most out of it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I used to be on my old computer, but this new laptop I don't fully get it yet...

I used to use Windows Movie Maker but it was an earlier version, and I find it much easier to use than the newest version.

Hope that helps!

Also CamStudio to screen record was so worth it.

Windows movie maker is the worst software ever developed, for any purpose. I recommend... Well, anything else. I used to use Final Cut Pro, which was great, but it is on an obsolete computer. Now I, like you, am stuck with windows movie maker.

Well I have Windows Movie Maker, this new version is quite easier than the old one actually. A little difficult the first few times, but very easy once you use it a few times.

But I am interested in other video making programs which make better videos and have better effects than Movie Maker.

Hahah, it's good for a beginner, I had 8 videos on my Youtube channel and I had over 20,000 views, they were very simple videos.

But yeah, I do want something better than Movie Maker.

Do you have any videos made by Final Cut Pro that I could see, maybe it's the program that I am looking for. Who knows :p

I highly recommend Sony Vegas. It gets as professional as you want it to. It's also incredibly easy to use.

In fact, I'd say that it's even easier than Windows Movie Maker. I tried using WMM once on a computer that didn't have Sony Vegas, and I absolutely had no idea why the layout was so confusing and bad.

If you're somehow able to obtain the program, I'd be happy to teach you... But you'll find out quickly that instruction really isn't necessary.

I will see what it's price is, I could get it for free by finding a registration number somewhere, but I don't want to be a thief and it doesn't fit in with what I want to do.

Thank you Leyora, I will look it up and let you know if I buy it. I have heard of this program before but not sure if it is any good. Is there much difference between Sony Vegas and Sony Vegas Pro. Does it matter which one I get?

Oh and have you made any videos on it? Can I please see one or two just to know what they look like.

By Sony Vegas I do mean Sony Vegas Pro. Whichever one you want to get is up to you, I suggest the latest version. I personally use Sony Vegas Pro 9. The current version is 11. However, version 11 does not support Windows XP, if that's your operating system.

The only videos I've made with it don't really show what it can do. I usually use it to edit and piece together already made content, and clean it up a little. The only one that exists on my OWN channel, and that wasn't a collaborated effort, is a still image. So, that would be a terrible example.

I can give you examples of things my friends have done, but they don't look too professional either. (As they weren't intended to be.)

If I find something I did hidden on my hard drive or if I get the time, I could just edit some existing footage of... whatever, together as an example. Pretty much, they look better than Window's Movie Maker's horrid blue screen and predetermined templates for effects.

OK thank you once again for the info, I looked at your video, but like you said, not much help.

Most semi-pro and amateur editors use iMovie (apple) or the more pro Final Cut Pro. But you need an apple. For a PC, Adobe Premier is highly recommended...but it can be a bit expensive and most semi-pro film and video people use Final Cut Pro
