Is "ISIS" plural or singular?

Some say "ISIS are" and some others say "ISIS is".

I wonder how rice tastes with melted cheese. Cheesy maybe?

In British English, ISIS are would be the prescriptively correct form. However, in American and Australian English, collectives such as governments, corporations and political groups are often treated grammatically, as singular entities; thus why you'll often see the singular form.

Neither is more 'correct' than the other, unless you're a really dogmatic prescriptivist.

Thanks man, that really helps.

My English is more American than British, so I guess that is what caused the confusion.

The talking heads were wrong! Bombing has made ISIS retreat!

ISIS is totally different then al-quida etc.
1. They are not hiding. They are right there in the dessert presenting a beautiful target.
2. We do not have to worry about killing them *, as the Arabs ( Iran, well ok technically they are not Arab, but you know what I mean, Syria, Iraq...etc) all hate them.
3. It is a moral imperative to kill them. Even al-quida rejected them for being too nuts and cruel! That is like applying to be part of Manson's family and being rejected because even Manson says," WHOA! You are too cruel for my family!"

Yikes. I'm not seeing the difference between your pov and theirs.
Really?
So you would see no difference between fighting ( and killing) the Nazis in WW2 and the Nazis killing Jews?!
I believe that it was a moral imperative to stop the Holocaust even tho that meant killing Germans.
And yes, I use direct words. I hate weinie words. For example, I never say collateral damage, I call it what it is, the accidental killing of innocent civilians.

One must remember that members of ISIS are not Muslims.* They are just thugs that only want to rape, rob and murder. Their leader tells them [a lie]that that is the Muslim way!!! In other words, he gives them an excuse to follow their primitive animal instincts and be proud of it!!! In a very real sense ISIS worships Satan! Note, that I am neither pro or con as to the existence of Satan ( I am an agnostic), I am merely pointing out that ISIS's concept of God is very similar to the concept Satan.
* By analogy, if I call myself a Christian and do not believe in the moral codes in the Bible, am I a Christian? Of course not!

Judging by the anti semitic liberals in this forum, I'm surprised the number isn't higher than 2

I know for a fact that one of those people was trolling for lulz. I'm pretty sure the other was a vote for the Egyptian goddess.

But, even if there were anti-semitic liberals on this board (and there are not) what on earth could being anti-semitic possibly have to do with support for ISIS, who hate EVERYBODY (not just Jews)?

Half the bloodlust of ISIS is against Israel. Half the bloodlust of all Islamists is Israel. Liberals in general are anti Israel/anti Jewish and pro Islamism. ISIS is their dream come true because in general liberals are weak while ISIS is decisive.

Many liberals on this site defend the Islamic government of Iran which has killed tens of thousands of innocent people, so ISIS is only a step above them.
