Does God Want You to Suffer?

DallasApple

Depends Upon My Mood..
I dont think so.( I think some people think that he does and that is why they suffer OR inflict pain on other peopel and its "o.k' because God NEVER said we were supposed to be HAPPY)

And why? I have NO idea..Except you are an abuser..OR you are a victim and are so sad you believe you are going to dissapoint God .Plus it excuses every jacked up thing you ever did.

It leaves individual responsibility off the hook.

If you don't do as he commands, then you go to hell. That is the literal understanding. If you don't please god then you go to hell? So it must please him in some way or he would change it.

I think God wants us to learn, and one of my favorite axioms (it's one of my favorite because I made it up) is that there are only two teachers in life; Pain and Humility.

It's sort of like Pain is the father and Humility is the mother and they're both out to teach us something;

You; "Hey Dad (Pain)! what would happen if I made some wings out of cardboard and jumped off the roof"?

Pain (Dad): "I don't know son, try it and find out"

You: "OK"!

*later*

You: "Mom (Humility)! I think I sprained all of my internal organs"!

Mom (Humility): "Well now son, what have we learned from this"?

You: "Not to trust Dad"?

Mom (Humilty): "Yes son, that's exactly it".

Bwahahaha...

As to the OP question... I would say a resounding no... God wants us to live in eternal bliss with Him...

Eternal bliss! How can that be possible? Without bodies and knowing that loved ones are possibly burning in hell. Does god drug us up so we won't care? Are there classes or shopping mals in heaven? What do people actually do up there? Are there creches for all the children and babies that died?

Have you actually considered the stupidity of the concept of heaven? Some people will deny any level of rational thought just so they can believe that this is not all we get.

Not sure...

My friend, you have my understanding of heaven and hell mixed up with someone else's...

What do people actually do up there?
No idea...

There is nothing inherently irrational about the concept of heaven. You might argue that it is irrational to believe that such a place actually exists, though I would disagree that that is a nessecity as well...

Depends Upon My Mood..
Look I "hang" with some hard core Christians and "happinness" is a bad word.Because Christian women are divorcing Christian men head over fist..The women claim they arent "happy".

It woudl seem to ME that if the men even came one 1/'100th of representing Christ the women wouldnt be so "unhappy"

The MEN want to eliminate "no fault divorce"and the only "cause " would be adultery..(and even then God hates it)

Yo shouldn't hear them say things like.." why divorce the man if he verbally abuses the wife AND the children"

"Did JESUS ever give up on YOU"?

I agree...

Not to bring this thread off-topic... but no divorce except for adultery is, if you believe the Bible, straight from the horse's mouth as it were...

Yo shouldn't hear them say things like.." why divorce the man if he verbally abuses the wife AND the children"

"Did JESUS ever give up on YOU"?
Again I agree... You shouldn't ever hear that... there shouldn't ever be the abuse to begin with...

I agree with you Quagmire, although I believe that humility is a lesson learned through suffering. Put your hand in the fire, remember the pain and avoid doing it in the future.

If it don't hurt it can't be all bad, If it do hurt, then refain from doing it again. the greater the wrong that is done, the greater is the suffering that is endured, and the greater is the lesson learned.

You can also learn from the pain you endure because of the wrongs of another, remember the pain when you discovered your spouce in bed with a so called friend, don't inflict that same pain on one of your aquaintances.

He demands strict and contradictory requirements if we are to enter the kingdom of heaven.

There's nothing wrong with being strict; in order to live a good life HERE, you have to be strict in discipline.

As for contradictory... well, that depends on whether or not we're talking about God or men.
