often people say dont throw the baby out with the bath water but to me it seems like sticking your hands in a vat of acid for a few shinny baubles found elsewhere . nothing good in the bible is unique .

There's a lot of wisdom in the Bible, and Jesus' teachings on non-judgement, forgiveness, and caring for those less fortunate are valuable.
but are they unique ?

Isn't the return on earth of the Genesis ' tree of life ' for earth's nations a good unique thing? _______ - Revelation 22:2

Where else do you find the ' shinny bauble ' of Isaiah 11:3-4 that Jesus will be the one to solve mankind's problems by doing away with the wicked ones on earth ?

I think Jesus' message of a loving father, brotherly love, the Golden Rule, forgiveness of others, etc. are valuable. As far as uniqueness; the truth must be stated again and again in different ways to reach people.

They're spotty at best, and have plenty of unwise teachings on the other side of the balance. Does it net out positive? I'm not sure.

During Jesus's time I'm sure people had similar messages.
There are always dogooders, Jesus just happened to be the one who got through....
Sadly.

Under Jesus' coming 1,000 year governmental rulership over earth we will have the jobs of building our own homes and planting our own vineyards - Isaiah 65:21-23
So what is he waiting for, another 2,000 years to go by?

That is true, but I think that other sources teach it better.

I think that is has some sweet spells for making your wife get rid of a fetus if it's not yours.

This is why I'm glad that we are impotent.

I find parts of the Bible useful. I see no need to pay attention to the parts I don't find useful. I see no reason to make it a zero-sum game.

You ignored the OP with this comment. The point was that these things of "value" (which, I agree with wholeheartedly, btw) can be found elsewhere. So, while the actual lessons have value, does the Bible gain value from them, since they can be found elsewhere?
