Does the New Testament Anywhere Clearly Talk About Homosexuals?

sojourner

In the OT homosexuality is spoken of.The NT says those who are sexually immoral will not inherit the Kingdom. It does mention men having sex with men in the NT.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men

Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
These are homosexual acts -- not homosexuality itself. And this coming from a world in which they thought homosexual acts were "unnatural," simply because they were unaware of homosexuality as an orientation.

I take it then that you're suggesting that it's fine to pick and choose which passages to pay attention to and which to ignore. Depending on who wrote them?
No. What he is suggesting, I think, is that we have to pay attention to all the texts, exegeting them properly, and then giving them their due consideration as to how they are applicable today. Some are applicable and serve to build up humanity; some are not and serve to tear down humanity.

well...Saint Paul had issues, probably. Some historians claim he may have been bipolar and\or epileptic.
He also said that eunuchs will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. I don't know whether the statement is more cruel or stupid.
Because eunuchs' condition didn't depend on their will. I don't see how they should be blamed for that
Paul never said Eunuch's were not to inherit the Kingdom of God.In Acts 8:26-39 Phillip is instructed by an angel of the Lord to speak to an Ethiopian Eunuch about the Word of God.Phillip even baptizes this Eunuch.

Corinthians 6:9 is translated differently in Italian.
it clearly says not male prostitutes but "eunuchs" (eunuchi) or sometimes "feminized men" (effeminati).

Deuteronomy 23:1 says they will not enter the congregation of The Lord.

Never mind didn't realize this was only talking about the NT. Sorry!

Romans 1:25-29

Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,

thank you so much. I had confused deuteronomy with Paul's Corinthians.
By the by, I am 100 % sure that in Corinthians 6, 9 he means feminized men.

I have to check the Greek text.

μαλακοὶ: feminized men
ἀρσενοκοῖται: homosexuals

And
the greedy,
the immoral
the impure
the sensual
the jealous
the effeminate
the envious
the unbaptized
those who have fits of anger
those who have strife
those who have enmity
those who have orgies
abusers of themselves
dissenters
thieves
fornicators
sorcerers
drunkards
revilers
swindlers

Hmm, nothing about used car salesmen.

And if you've ever been jealous, had a fit of anger, or suffered strife you'd better pack oven mitts for your last journey.

Really?

Yup.

Honey, I checked the Greek text: and I studied ancient Greek

μαλακοὶ: feminized men
ἀρσενοκοῖται: homosexuals

so that English translation is very hypocritical and tends to save Paul, who was a person with issues. A sexist machista, misogynist and worse.
Neither soft men or liers with males. It is specifically referring to homosexual men,not Eunuchs.

Please do not speak to me anymore.I don't want you to report me to the staff again.

 don't you think that by "soft men" he meant "feminized men"?

so...according to Saint Paul, sweet sensitive guys, (either gay or straight) will not go to Heaven.
do you realize that we are dealing with a psycho?
I dont think you understood me correctly.Of course soft men means "feminized men."Paul was not referring to sweet sensitive guys.Paul was referring to homosexuals per the holy scriptures.Whether Paul is a psycho is a matter of opinion.

well...Paul wrote that women don't have the right to speak in assemblies. so it is very arduous to say that he was for gender equality.

by the by, I assure you that the term malakos in Greek has nothing to do with homosexuality. It has to do with tenderness, sensitiveness.
and there are also straight guys who are sweet and sensitive.

Of course we have to decontextualize. That epistle was addressed to the Greeks. Jewish men were proud macho-men who considered Greeks a bunch of feminized lustful men. Men who preferred to sleep with men than with women.
And we all know that heterosexuality didn't exist in the ancient Greek. they were all bisexuals.

Jesus Christ spoke of three classes of eunuchs at Matthew 19:12, saying: “For there are eunuchs that were born such from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs that were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs that have made themselves eunuchs on account of the kingdom of the heavens. Let him that can make room for it make room for it.” Those who are said to have “made themselves eunuchs” because of the kingdom are those who exercise self-control so as to apply themselves to the service of God. The apostle Paul recommends this as the “better” course for Christians who do not become “inflamed with passion.” These, he said, could serve the Lord more constantly “without distraction.” (1Co 7:9, 29-38) Such “eunuchs” are not persons who have physically castrated themselves or have been emasculated; instead, these persons voluntarily remain in a state of singleness. No vow of celibacy is recommended by the Bible, and “forbidding to marry” is condemned as one of the marks of the apostasy. In fact, some of the apostles were married men.—1Ti 4:1-3; 1Co 9:5; Mt 8:14; Mr 1:30; Lu 4:38;

Interesting Post. Although I personally think that the scriptures listed at the start of this post were "biasedly interpreted" by someone with a chip.

This kind of thing often happens where religions are concerned, especially in smaller cultish relgions.

I think that these scriptures dont actually say homosexuality in words but the author of the post put interpreted the words in the scripture as homosexuality.

I always find it amazing how christians have so much hate based on such a criteria. People often spend their time pointing fingers at others for their transgressions while ignoring their own transgressions which are often greater (according to the complete scriptures).

Christians often forget core lessons that Jesus taught which dealt with judging others.

People have forgotten the essence of his teachings, being Love thy neighbor and Judge Not
and instead are getting caught up on the small print.

If your eye lead you to sin, then pluck them out.

In christianitys term, sexual relations are primarily used for procreation.
How much sex results in procreation?

I am not homosexual but feel that if two men who are of such a disposition are leading a good life, then what harm does this cause? In terms of relationships, it is dishonest acts that are the most damaging to a holy society. If homosexuals are living in harmony with each other and not causing problems then surely no problem.

Paul was not for gender control. When it says that the woman are to remain silent,it is referring to the teachings within the congregation.A woman is not to teach about the Word of God to men within the congregation.Woman are to preach outside the congregation in public but never to the congregation. This is reserved for men only.

Psalms 68:11 The Lord gives instructions. The women who announce the good news are a large army.

Here is an example of this. These women of God instead of correcting Apollos in the synagogue, they invited him to their home and instructed him there about Gods word.Notice it says he was a learned man.He knew some truth but it was these two women who corrected him more adequately. So women do play a vital role in Gods work. They are just not permitted to teach to men within the congregation.Thats all.

Acts 18:24-26

24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor[a] and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

True Christians are not to hate homosexuals. If a so called Christian hates a homosexual, then they are not true Christians. It is one thing to speak about what God hates, and its another to hate that person who does the things God hates.
