Does Trump want Whistleblower Executed?

Here is the whistleblower report...

On CBS This Morning, Mike Morell, ex-Deputy Director of the CIA, ventured that the report was written by someone formerly or currently employed by the CIA. His evaluation was based on his analysis of the conciseness, clarity, and thoroughness of the report.

A little lightbulb just went off. It's possible that Mike Morell is the whistleblower! You heard it here first.

Let’s not play detective. If the identity of the whistleblower is determined he could be killed.

'At a private breakfast in New York, Trump likened the filing of a just released complaint to treason.

“I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy,” he said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”'

Questions
1: Do you think Trump is calling for the execution of the whistleblower?
As a wanna-be dictator he'd love to, but as a mere President he doesn't dare . . . . . . . . . . I think.

2. Do you agree that people who are genuinely traitors (which need not necessarily include the whistlblower in this case) should be executed under circumstances where they could easily be subject to other treatment such as imprisonment?
Depends on the nature of the treason. The Rosenbergs certainly deserved to be executed for their espionage..

I doubt anyone is going to kill Mike Morell and say they did it because ecco outed Mike.

Realistically, Morell, or whoever the whistleblower is, is in less imminent danger than those individuals who told about the incident.

No, but he is pointing out that undermining the country and/or its leader is a serious crime. Something folks have forgotten apparently.

Yes, imprisonement is the correct punishment.

I heard a clip of what he said today on NPR.
If it's the quote in question, it didn't sound serious.

I oppose the death penalty.

In broad daylight on 5th Avenue.

Everyone knows that.
And it probably wouldn't even be Trump himself. His good buddy Putin is better at that sort of thing.

I think it all depends upon the classification of information and if the country was put in any sort of real danger.

Well the odds are on his side.

But there was only one person ever executed in history for treason and he was William Bruce Mumford during the Civil War who was consequently hung.

His offense? Tearing down the American flag in an act of defiance during the war.

Well, you never know what could happen. Someone could end up being court-martialed, shot, and then sent to the Russian Front.

Mike Morrell left the CIA in 2013. So he wouldn't even classify as a whistle blower since he is not under the employment of the govt.

Good news is he is free and clear of any wrong doing as far as this matter goes.

I think Trump is trying his usual tactic, witness intimidation, just like the old days' mob bosses. After all, he did nothing wrong, was just 'making a deal', why should the law interfere?

Calling out officials for violating their oath of office is protecting the sanctity of civilization.

Protecting those who would violate their oath of office is undermining the country.

Sure, but when its based on lies it's pretty much treason.

Good you agree, time to impeach more than half the Dems in Congress now.

Not quite like Snowden huh? In 2013 during the Obama Administration.

1: Do you think Trump is calling for the execution of the whistleblower?
Not really, bug it is highly unethical for him to say such a thing because it can agitate someone in his base to actually try this as we've seen.

2. Do you agree that people who are genuinely traitors (which need not necessarily include the whistlblower in this case) should be executed under circumstances where they could easily be subject to other treatment such as imprisonment?
No, as I am against capital punishment to begin with.
