I mean the full source of the quote where you said he mentions "educated whites". I think I've found the source as being a 1989 interview with NBC, but can't find a full transcript and can't currently run the video.
The main thing that chimed with me was Trump's opposition to free trade, which would be good for American workers. If the Democrats offered someone who was against free trade, I would have voted for a Democrat.
The thing is, the true and proper Democratic position should be pro-working class, so any Democrat who supports free trade and globalism is really a Democrat in name only. They do no good for anybody - no matter how "nice" or "polite" they might appear in public.
I don't care about "nice." I care about jobs, better wages, and a better economy. This can benefit all people of all races in America. The only things we should be importing are those things that can not mined nor grown in the United States. Anything that can be manufactured in America must be manufactured in America. No more outsourcing.
Not only that, but I was scared to death that Hillary would have brought us into war with Russia, and that, to me, was the deal-breaker. War with Russia would be a reckless endeavor.
I don't like Trump; he's a loudmouth and a blowhard. He's offensive, he's a racist, but I don't think he's Hitler, which is where it gets overblown, exaggerated, and beyond belief. I've heard my grandparents say things that are much worse, and they were Democrats who voted for FDR, Truman, JFK, LBJ, and McGovern, among others.

The above has nothing to do with Trump. It is a wave created by Obama and Trump is riding it for self serving reasons.

Imho, DT seems to be a spoilt brat born with a silver spoon, and who consequently never felt the need to be polite and courteous while making his way in the world from a millionaire to a billionaire.
He seems to be led more by business values of aggression, profit at all costs and competitiveness, rather than genuine leadership traits of idealism,strategic thinking, leading by example, compassion and unselfishness.
I admire his drive and thick skin though.
