Don't even think of making your kid walk home a mile to teach a lesson.

Mods could you transfer over to general debates. Something glitched or I glitched. Lol

Appreciate it.

I agree with the courts, he made his son get out of the car and walk the mile home as a punishment.
Not sure how old the kid is, but that is a form of child abuse in my opinion.

yep.
in Britain he would have been prosecuted for leaving the child at home without an adult present, so leaving the child on a highway.....

Yep.
I would never do that to my kid.
Actually, my ex did that once, when we was coming home, her kids were acting up and she pulled over and tried to make them get out, I told the kids to stay put.
Our relationship didnt last long :sarcastic

*fft* When I was a kid we walked home from school a mile everyday, through 10 feet of snow and dodging moose and wolves.

I do believe that the judge in this case ruled inappropriately. There was no evidence for the "reasons" she gave for imposing discipline on the father (at least no evidence stated in the article).

What exactly is abusive here?

Parents let their children go all the time on their own to visit friends, walk to the store etc. Does it make a difference in cases of parental punishment?

Apparently the distance in question was only a mile. It's sound like the child already knew how to get home from there.

I am assuming because it was a punishment thing, yes.
This one guy locked his kid outside, during the winter, because the kid was screaming and yelling about something he wanted but couldn't have.
The kid went next door and called the cops.
The guy went to jail.
Yet kids go outside and play all winter long, and sometimes don't want to come in even when its freezing outside, correct?
Yet the guy locked him out for less than 5 mins and went to jail.

With that kind of standard for crime & punishment, I'd bet that recording
a day in the life of the judge would result in her getting life in prison.
Speak harshly to a kid, force'm to eat unpleasant veggies, etc, etc....oh, the horror!

True that.
There is a vid on YT of the cops abusing a teen girl.
They had tied her legs together, shut her cell door, and pulled the rope tight, so she couldnt move.

If a parent did that, they would go to jail, yet the cops can?
there is even one of a cop tazering a 9 yr old girl, who was being unruly to her mom.
Seriously?
