Driving Tips

One thing I notice in watching many videos
of accidents is that so many are easily avoided
by just.....
- Keep plenty of distance from vehicle ahead.
- Think several vehicles ahead.
- When you sense trouble, start slowing down immediately.
- Let jerks have their way.
It's dangerous to use your vehicle to enforce your right of way.
- In bad road conditions, slow down more than you think necessary.
(Because it still might be less than necessary.)

Get a dash cam because people lie.
Any other tips?

Drive on the basis everyone else is an idiot.
Don't get angry.
Paranoia kept me safe while I used to ride a motorcycle. And on a rainy day on the freeway when a lady decided that she like my lane I just yielded to the left . For some reason I did not feel like trying to overcome a two ton car with a bike that weight a fifth of that or less.

Talking of motorcycles...

A lady in hospital in urgent need of a heart transplant, the doctor talking to her.. "I'm afraid we don't have a heart for you at the moment" he glances out of the window "but don't worry, it's raining, we'll probably have one very soon"

Go on foot or take the bus?

I mean...I know people who take the car even to go to their office which is 800 meters away.
Is that normal?

:)

I would like to know the IQ of these drivers.
I mean...I know these streets very well. If they had gone on foot, they would have arrived one hour earlier.
You need to be a genius to waste so much fuel on that. There is the subway too.

Besides, walking makes you lose weight.

Oh, you Eurostanians....so provincial in
your belief that the rest of the world
is like where you live.
- Here, there is no subway.
- Here, there is no place to walk to within several miles.
- Pedestrians can't pull 14,000# trailers.

I know... borderless spaces, miles and miles of countryside.

:)
Well...you're justified then.

I agree wih this 100%. No make that 110%.
Not sure how your roads are there.

We have a combination of cow roads and open highways I drive every day. I dread the open highways. I have a very fast car and it is tempting to play the same games they play. It isn't a recipe for peace. I like distractions because they take my mind off of the people behind the wheel and help me concentrate on only driving saftely. If it made their day to blow around be, I'm usually ok with that.

Sometimes though on a bad day I can be a little unpredictable which is really letting my emotions overide my logic.
