Drug tests for food stamp recipients.

That seems a bit extreme. Who'll they pander to if all the poor people are dead?
Who is pandering to the poor? The logical conclusion is that Republicans who want to gut social services for the poor want us dead since they do their damndest to make it hard for us to access food, healthcare and housing. Those things are kind of important for survival, you know. They hate poor people.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
I'm actually surprised that something like this wasn't already in effect. I guess they figure that if a person can afford to buy illegal drugs then they should be able to buy food on their own dime instead of the taxpayer.

Drug testing for food stamps might be coming soon
These types of things have an embarrassing history of finding very low numbers of drug users and costing a lot more than they save.

Personally, if it's acceptable to drug test recipients of tax payers' money, I'd like to see legislators subject to the same tests. I'd be extremely curious to know how many of the legislators who think drug testing food stamp recipients is a good idea would be happy to be drug tested themselves.

Anything to **** on the poor. It's obvious they hate poor people and want them to suffer and die.

I really don't have an opinion on this but just stating the following observations...

If anything, it's discriminating against poor drug users.

Other poor people will not be discriminated against.

Well and political moves like this set the middle class voters and poor against one another. As long as they fight one another- they'll never notice what the 1% are doing. The 1% keeps the pie except for one slice, which they toss to the poor and middle class and tell them to fight over it.

I'm more concerned that many middle class voters have fallen for this ruse. Thinking that the people in the lower class is who they need to be going after...

Keeps the wealthy free from the ire of the lower classes. Maybe instead of fighting the poor- the middle class voters should wonder what it is that sets they and the poor apart from the wealthy. Why are they willing to fight the poor on behalf of the 1%?

It's just an excuse to kick people off welfare. With this proposal, you could share a joint with a buddy, test positive and get kicked off. How "just".

Subsidizing drug use rankles anyone who pays taxes,
or so you'd think.

Of course, if one does not give them their "snap" regardless.
they will still get drugs, and food. And not likely from
working two jobs. Society will probably lose more
than it could gain from a few taken off welfare.

Keeping the otherwise- restive pacified with snap n' dope
is in the best intetests of the self righteous (rich) lefties of
the upper east side and the redneck consruction company owner
in Tulsa.

One group gets righteous virtue, the other gets righteous
anger.

I dont much identify with rednecks anyway, and smug is
better than anger, right?

We dont have to actually mingle with the unwashed anyway,
right?

What about the opioid crisis that was caused by regulators and politicians who turned the other way

What about the people who became addicted to unregulated opiods after Some harrowing painful surgery

It would probably cost more to impliment the drug-testing program than it would to continue feeding any drug users that might be found on food stamps.

I want drug testing for all candidates for public office and all elected officials. We should also include senior government officials and corporate board members. They're the ones where drug use can really mess things up for a lot of people. So let's start at the top.

If nothing else, it would be a show of good faith
