Drugs

Are you on drugs? That might explain it. :D
No. I may need to talk to a specialist or I may just be tired. We had a major storm blow through and I spent the last 2 hours clearing downed limbs. There is a very large limb, about 40 foot long and maybe 10-12 inches in diameter at the base leaning on the roof of my house where my bedroom is. It snapped off a larger black locust tree in the yard. That may be more on my mind than reading comprehension right now.

Locust trees are best in the woods and not good in yards from my experience.

Controlled by whom?

Edit: I hope not flawed people
Since we are all flawed in some way, that would be all of us including the ones controlling things.

Prescription drugs and illegal drugs are controlled substances. In some cases, even over the counter drugs can be controlled. Anything with pseudoephedrine has been voluntarily removed by merchants or the sale is restricted in quantity, since is used to make meth.

I agree. My point was some things deemed "unhealtht drugs" are also useful in certain situations.

You could say the same thing about a brush with death. A brush with death can be a great motivator. I wouldn't recommend people go out and try it.

The problem isn't so much the use as the abuse. By "unhealthy" I take it you mean controlled substances that fall under the description recreational. Some of those do have medical value and some were co-opted from prior medical use. Others don't really have enough beneficial characters to warrant their use. Especially when other, more effective alternatives exist.

Orbit

I'm a planet
I'd love to see that course. :)

I can tell you the topics we cover:
-the technical pharmacological classification of drugs and their various effects
-the way American society has changed what counts as an illegal drug over the course of history
-the culturally sanctioned ritual use of hallucinogens by groups like the Native American Church
-patterns of drug use and abuse in the professions (medical/police)
-theories of addiction and recovery
-drug policy and changes in drug policy and law over time and by country
-the effect of illegal drug trafficking on international economies and politics
-drug subcultures
-gender, social class, and racial patterns in drug use

I might be forgetting something, but those are the highlights, anyway

That sounds like it goes into much more depth and detail than those cheesy "this is your brain on drugs" commercials they used to show.

"Any questions?"

Outstanding. Any use of Gabor Mate? His work on addiction counselling is world class.
