Dumb as a Stump

Is this the dumbest 'apparition' ever? If it isn't please explain why.

"Hundreds of people have been gathering to pay their respects to what they believe is an image of the Virgin Mary in a tree stump in Co Limerick.
There have been nightly vigils in the grounds of Holy Mary Parish Church in Rathkeale after workers spotted the similarities while cutting down trees.
Those visiting the site believe it depicts an image of the Virgin Mary and believers have come in their hundreds to pray and light candles.

A spokesman for the Limerick diocesan office said the 'Church's response to phenomena of this type is one of great scepticism'While we do not wish in any way to detract from devotion to Our Lady, we would also wish to avoid anything which might lead to superstition,' said Fr Paul Finnerty.

Rathkeale Community Council Graveyard Committee chairman Noel White said workmen sprucing up the church land saw the image when they cut the tree.
'One of the lads said look, our Blessed Lady in the tree,' Mr White said. 'One of the other lads looked over and actually knelt down and blessed himself, he got such a shock.''It was the perfect shape of the figure of Our Lady holding the baby,' he said.
Now thousands have signed a petition to try to keep the stump in the grounds permanently.
However not everybody is convinced. 'It's only a tree' said local parish priest Father Willie Russell." RTÉ news July 10 2009

Considering how many trees are cut and turned into stumps, I suppose you would eventually find one stump that might be readily interpreted as a religious figure.

And why a tree stump, exactly? Does God support cutting down trees for some reason?

It doesn't even look like a human. It looks like a tree stump.

I saw the flying spaghetti monster in the smoke of fireworks last week. I saw him over and over again... O_O I think he was trying to show people that he exists. He knew a lot of people would be watching the fireworks, so he made himself known there where everyone could see. :D

Hmmmm...
Just the other day, I was looking at some clouds that formed into the shape of an elf. Or was it a rabbit?

An elf riding a rabbit, I think, probably. Elves are very light.
Legolas was. He could walk on top of the snow.
That means he could probably ride a rabbit without hurting it too.

No matter how hard I try, I still can't see it - I even tried looking at it the way I look at those magic eye picture thingies (technical term!).

You shouldn't put your eyes to close to the screen it will burn them up. I never saw one of those magic eye things, I just can't make em out, I am glad they fell into the murky swamp of yesteryear.

There's a Ghost Gum in the paddock
He stands there all alone
Been there more'n a hundred years
Aint got the heart to bring him down
So tall and so majastic, a grander sight I doubt you'd see

What the flamin hell yer talkin bout
Mate, it's only a bloody tree?

It's only a bloody tree you say
Well, I guess you could be right
And I'm not the sort of man what prays
But I reckon in God's sight
That thing you say's a bloody tree
Could be more important that you and me.

I'm sorry, I don't think I could explain why you find it dumb. ;)

I can see her and the baby; can't you? There's nothing dumb about seeing things in things --we all do it.
