Ectoplasm: what's your opinion about it?

I'm not sure if that's what Skwim meant, though, considering this sort of thing is categorically distinct from ideas like ectoplasm. Claims of something like ectoplasm are easily falsifiable. Communication with or channeling of otherworldly aspects of reality is usually non-falsifiable.

I have heard stories about ghosts writing/imprinting directly onto a paper, but that seems like an uncommon claim.

I believe George-ananda has a picture of Jesus that would qualify as such.

I believe that belief in things like ectoplasm are excellent barometers for determining somebody's ability to discern fantasy from reality.

I've got to echo other user's thoughts here and agree that ectoplasm is nonsense. It seems to me that during spiritualism and seance crazes it becomes necessary to have something tangible that can be easily produced to entertain* audiences. Scrunched cloth or a thick paste can be easily concealed by a magician and released at the height of a show.
I have the same opinion of "orbs" actually. Other than Will O' The Wisps, orbs were never a thing until shows like Ghost Hunters *spit* showed up. What's an easy way of getting something supernatural on TV? Camera flares, reflections or even just a good old torch. Same idea as ectoplasm, just a different method.

*This to my mind is the crux of a lot of these crazes. For everybody who is genuinely interested there are ten or twenty people looking for a cheap thrill.

Actually from my study of the paranormal, spirit writing or automatic writing refers to a human subject writing under the control of a spirit and typically the writer has no conscious knowledge of what he wrote.

The Jesus picture is something very different. This is a photograph produced paranormally by a Hindu saint/guru/avatar famous in South India for not only His spiritual teachings but for an incredible number of religious miracles (particularly materialization).

Here is the link to the Jesus photo with the story of its manifestation.
