They're particular ants, called lemongrass ants.
Because of the nature of their diet, they literally add a citrus flavour to the beer.

I imagine Australian honey ants, or similar would be interesting for this type of thing.

As a regular part of my diet, it would be an effort and I'd have to get over the gag reflex. But I might try it out of curiosity. If I like it and got used to it, that would settle it for me!

I'm very fond of other arthropods (shrimps, especially our local variant) so insects wouldn't be that different.

Yep, I have and I do.

I’ve eaten…..

chocolate “chirp” cookies, made w/ crickets;

mealworm pizza;

chocohoppers (you can figure it out);

Mushrooms sautéed in ant sauce;

and a few others. No spiders yet…

We routinely eat crickets at my dive bar. They put a bunch of novelty stuff in the vending machine, some of which are boxes of flavored crickets. I like the bacon cheddar ones a lot

have you ever ate red velvet cake? The icing in red foods made with bugs. Ate cereal? It's well known a certain amount of bugs are allowed in it and youveprobably ate some not realizing it. Hard candies? Again the coating is made with bugs. All y'all guys have probably ate them without realizing it

At age five, I used to pick ants off peonies and ate the ants. I'm now a vegetarian, I might consider reverting back to eating some low fat high protein animals like ants.
