So, you would ignore the powers that the Constitution dictates? And do you think what happened on January 6th wasn't "hostile" and should just be ignored? I watched it live for many hours and was horrified at what I saw. Doesn't the undermining of American democracy by Trump and his collaborators bother you?

First they can find a way to use anything you say against you. Second, they can make your life quite miserable. Third, I see little reason to trust a politician with personal information. If I could find a way to avoid testifying to congress, I certainly would, whether I had anything to hide or not.

Using this logic, then we should eliminate our entire court system at all levels because the same exact thing can happen there.

I just projected forth your logic on this to other areas.

No system is perfect, whether that be the Constitutional process of congressional oversight or what takes place in courts across our land on a daily basis. Thus, as the saying goes, "Don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good".

My logic is a lack of trust in politics.
The problem is the use of governmental enforcement. I would use the legal system to navigate governmental enforcement.
Kind of hard to do without a judicial system based on the constitution.

Or as I pointed out in another post, determine which is the greater risk. Accepting the penalties per the legal system or trusting the political nature of Congress.

Maybe I'd go if I thought I could outsmart the politicians. Maybe if I didn't think I could I'd consider the legal penalties the better option. Or if I thought I could afford the lawyers to navigate the courts system like Bannon.

And the best thing to, testifying before congress or a judge in small claims court, is be honest with them. They don't like liars and liars as well often face harsh penalties.

As if there's actually, really a choice there anyways. Jail or prison for a no show, running to a country who won't extradite you, or just show up in court, which may lead to jail or prison anyways but at least the sentence will be lesser and the judge won't be starting the case in an especially bad mood.

And I would say thinking you can push the courts around is probably just as bad for your situation as ignorance. Being ignorant means they'll try and pull one on you. Trying to push them will make them push back, and it will be hella harder than you'll ever be able to.

I'd have to be subpoenaed first.
Exactly my point of needing a lawyer. My own ignorance of the law can get me into trouble if I testify.
