Elective Disease

My impression is that a lot of anti-vaxxers are misled by misinformation rather than having malicious intentions themselves. In those cases, I definitely find their death or severe illness tragic because it is so preventable.

I have family members who fall within the above category, so I don't look apathetically at most anti-vaxxers' deaths. I wouldn't find it any less difficult to lose them just because they were anti-vaxxers.

I separate people who are taken in by gaslighting in particular and lying in general and those who actively promote lies. The former are tragic, the latter are or should be criminal.

You've heard of "elective procedure", ie, one that isn't an emergency,
so it can be scheduled. This includes things like boob jobs, liposuction.
Anti-vaxers have chosen to eschew protection against Covid 19 infections
that become severe enuf to require hospitalization. Should this be
treated as a choice to get deathly sick, ie, "elective disease"?

In Michiganistan, our hospitals are filled & stressed with unvaccinated
people suffering from severe Covid 19 infections. (80% unvaxed vs
20% vaccinated in one hospital).

These patients are over-working staff, & preventing others
from getting health care. I propose for anti-vaxers....
- Higher health insurance charges.
- Lower priority for hospital bed.
(One could say "they already made their own bed...now lie in it".)
Are you asking if there should be a litmus test given to determine if someone is worthy of medical care?

I'm not an antivaxer....but now I see we are divided along right and left, democrat and republican, vaccinated and unvaccinated......hmmm.... any thing else we can think of to divide the country further so we get nothing done.....If the bombed pearl harbor today....we'd lose

oh, and as I said in another discussion along these lines, there are a few folks that per their doctors advice, should not get the vaccine....most of those are already high risk with heart issues

A problem now is that anti-vaxers are overwhelming
hospitals, & causing service delays to others. Their
choice also imposes expense & risk upon others.
This should be disincentivized.
And sadly, the deaths of this 'collateral damage' aren't included in Covid stats.

Many of the fanatics think that unjabbed people should basically be left to die in the street. They're crazy extremists. Makes me side-eye many of my fellow citizens. I would never support denying someone medical care or not having insurance cover their needs. That's just sociopathic. But us unjabbed people are supposed to be lacking in care for others.

When the unvaxed over-load the system, they're
ensuring that someone will be denied. Why should
they deem that it be someone else?

The vaccines are free, painless, & low risk.
The SARS CoV-2 virus is dangerous, but its effects
are greatly limited by vaccination. To refuse this
seems the greater fanaticism, ie, an unreasonable
devotion to a cause.

Who is being denied care because of unjabbed people??? Name one instance of this happening.

Honestly, I don't even feel like having some back and forth about this. It's just negativity and ****ting on other people who are just trying to make it through the day. I'm not into the divide and conquer crap. I'm not playing that game. At least I can say I still believe everyone has a right to healthcare. Even me. Even people I disagree with.

Individual cases aren't available to me.
Michigan’s overflowing hospitals offer COVID warning for US - The Boston Globe

“Our emergency departments and our hospitals are functioning beyond full capacity,” Adnan Munkarah, Henry Ford’s chief clinical officer, said in an interview. “That means our beds are full and we have patients waiting in the emergency department for hours for beds to open.”

When some people behave irresponsibly...dangerously.
They shouldn't expect preference in times of shortage,
leaving others to suffer as a result.

So you can't come up with an example of it. Alright.

Okay, so leave AIDS patients, smokers, drug addicts, alcoholics, the obese, diabetics, extreme sports athletes, etc. to die in the streets. It's just hatefulness.

Not an individual.
Would you say that if they can't
be named, that there are none?

Who then should be moved to the back
of the line when hospitals overflow?

I wouldn't.
Since I'm not a licensed physician,
I can consider worthiness.
Thankfully you are not, then. If you lack compassion or care for others, stay out of the healthcare industry. There's enough people working in it who have no business doing so. But thanks for letting us know what sort of person you really are.

I'll be frank, that's sick and twisted logic.
Let's not let the smoker be treated for cancer either?
Can you say "slippery slope"?
Doctors are there to treat whoever needs it.
