The prophecies weren't about the "end of mankind," but about the "end of the Age" (which was mistranslated as "end of the world" because the original Greek word, eras, means both age and world).

Nothing whatever about an end to humanity.

I said distant future. As a Hindu I believe in cyclical time where creation operates in cycles with four ages or yugas within each cycle. The age we are in now is Kali Yuga, the last age in this cycle. However I was told that Kali Yuga will not end for many years to come.
