Evangelists... Seriously!?!

I believe then that you are saying God is your enemy. Good luck with that. Sodom and Gomorrah didn't fare too well.

If I believed in your God you may be correct.

But as I don't. I have no enemy with the Gods. In fact I quite like some things Jesus' is purported to have even said; but I still dislike most Christians.

Dislike the person, not their views.

Maybe if I started proselytizing as a Pagan, going door to door, and handing literature to Children at schools and outside of people's work, they might find proselytizing annoying.

Then I can step up my game and get groups of people to travel to those in desperate need of support due to a natural disaster, and instead of telling them to lean into their own faith for strength, I can tell them they are only going to suffer if they don't follow mine instead. I'll place premade spell jars in protective locations around their home, etc etc.

Fair is fair.

What do you mean by that? Biblical inerrancy is that because Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit the sacred authors did not err, all of Scripture in all parts is true and correct. When history is written it is a true and correct history, and on anything written in it whatsoever, it is free from error.

The verses to those who hold this doctrine (all orthodox Christians in my opinion) would be inerrant/without error.

Problems often appear when revisionist history is used by those who wish to distort the past. Different times had different social standards, based on culture still evolving. When one tries to use the standards of today to judge the past, one is out of context of the flow of historian, so confusion arises. This is often done by the left side of the political spectrum which are full of atheists.

For example, when America had slavery this behavior was also common to most cultures world wide. It had precedent that dated back to the earliest civilizations. The left tries to use revisionist history and blame the past using modern standards. This has no basis in the laws physics. They cannot explain the physical laws that allow the past to be modified by the future. However, this irrational manipulative pipe dream is accepted by their base since they are vulnerable to misinformation.

I like to look at the past in terms of something that is consistent with science and the concept of time. They were different and did not know what the future would bring to be able to accommodate the pipe dreams of of the left. The people of today do not know the future, either, and would you wish to be judged by air heads in the future, who assure themselves you knew the future? In Christianity one needs to have patience.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Many Evangelicals are required to go on a mission, seems that's what your visitors were doing. Actually, it is required of all Christians to 'go forth and spread the Gospel'.
I doubt the intention was meant for the year 2021.

Actually, it is. Not too long ago, maybe a month, Evangelicals were kidnapped in Hatie with some still held for ransom. For many Christian religions this mission is obligatory. The Catholic Mass used to end with the priest announcing, 'Mass is ended, go forth and spread the Gospel.'

Over the past fifteen years the WEA Missions Commission has been instrumental in encouraging Christians involved in the global evangelical missionary movement to become “reflective practitioners” in mission. Dr. Bill Taylor, its Director, has done much to facilitate this movement as it has grown around the world to become a truly global movement involving missionaries not only from western countries but also from the two-thirds world. Countries from Korea to Brazil; the Ukraine to Nigeria; South Africa to the South Pacific; and most recently from China with its “back to Jerusalem” movement are engaged in evangelical mission with great passion and commitment. The compendium entitled “Globalized Missiology for the 21st. century” gives an excellent overview of evangelical mission today.

Wasn't sure whether or not this should go in debates or journals, since it may come off more as a rant.

Evangelists.... Seriously?

Some of you may know my wife and I's new town flooded, we were mostly spared, but had one room succumb to the local river Goddess' foul mood.

I had a wonderful organization called Samaritan's Purse, come by today and help do some mold mitigation in the room that flooded out. Thanks for that. Now with them came a couple of Chaplains, from a group of disaster ministries called Billy Graham something rather.

Now, I invited them into my home, as my wife is Lutheran Christian, and this has been as hard on her as it has me. I also allowed both organizations to pray for me and my wife, because it is no big deal to me.

What pissed me off, is while I stepped out of the room to use the phone (I had been on hold for 1.5 hours at this point and wasn't missing my call). Apparently, they had started talking to my wife about being "born again", not a concept I'm unfamiliar with, so cool maybe they help my wife. But get this, the guy talking to my wife
starts trying to get her to convert me to Christianity. She insisted several times that I was firm in my own beliefs, as I had already said earlier, I worship many Gods, when asked if I believed in Jesus and the Bible's God. Which pretty much ended his train of thought. And we switched to war stories.

Now, I'm a nice fellow, I'm big on Hospitality. Even if my temper may come off strong at times. But you're in my house on my terms, you do not come in here, and turn MY wife against me (not that you could, anyways). What skullduggery is this steaming pile of Auðumbla ****. This is a disaster area and I let you into my house on good faith. Never again.

1 Corinthians 13 : 4-5
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;

Why cast spouse against spouse? Attempt to turn households asunder? Is it because you follow Jesus? This is biblical inerrancy?

Matthew 10 : 35-36
For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.

I have a lot of hate for evangelicals. I went to an evangelical school as a kid, back then my parents didn't know. I was never aloud to express myself freely. For example, if I wanted to wear skulls on shoes it wouldn't be allowed etc. The school was pretty much like a soviet rehabilitation camp. I also live in a conservative/evangelical/mormon area. Rarely do I choose to associate myself with these people if at all. They're the kinds of people that I wouldn't want anything to do with. The evangelical school that I went to preached intolerance to other practicing religions, they had this one motto that "their god is the one true god." Not to mention that evangelists were the one's who started the Satanic panic, they even were trying to attempt to ban Metal music. So, given the fact that I am a metalhead these are one of my reasons why I have a strong hatred with these people. To me the mindset of an evangelical, is someone who believes that no matter how different another person is, they will stop at nothing to try and "save" that person. When in all actuality, they are just asking for it. Now, I personally know a few acquaintance's and people that I kinda know who are evangelical. But I rarely associate with them in person. They never came at me, because originally I kept most of my beliefs in private. But nowadays being open about my affiliations, they would probably try and come at me if I ever encountered them again. I got into Satanism and Metal to stand my ground during my repressive experience at the school. I still practice what I practice.

Jesus said he will make his followers "fishermen of men." Christians are instructed throughout the NT to go preach and minister. This is why so many have attached preaching and accepting Christ in order to receive charitable aid.
They will even resort to deception to mask that their ultimate intentions are to preach. Tell them you're not interested and it becomes apparent that many of them either don't know what "no" means or have a hard time with it. It makes me feel bad for their girlfriends and wives, who I have to assume to get worse pressure than that when she tells him no (because wives are to submit to their husbands).

Well, if they came to your house to convert you, it's only fair for you to try and convert them. :D

I have some JWs show up and I invited them in. Started pointing out several issues I had with Christianity and the Bible. I guess it disturbed them because they never came back.

Maybe not a good idea with your wife being present. Glad to hear she accepts your choice of belief though.

We had a JW girl that used to stop by... I took a very neutral approach with her, and it drove her nuts. "The Bible says..." she'd tell me. "Oh, does it? That's nice." She'd look puzzled. "The Bible says you shouldn't do this..." she'd say. "How do you feel about that?" Well, I didn't have any feelings about it at all, and she didn't know what to do with that! I wasn't trying to frustrate the poor girl, I was just being genuine...

I got the impression they were trained to deal with those already Christian(and of a different denomination) and those who believed nothing, but didn't know what to do with the 'anything flies' attitude.

That's not what Jesus means. We're made enemies because the world hates us. Not because we hate others or purposely cause division. It's simple. John 15:19 is why households are divided by the gospel. Not because Christians are ordered to cause division. In fact Jesus says "blessed are the peacemakers". So it's against Jesus teachings.

In fact the Bible instructs wives to be witnesses to their husbands with good behavior. Yeah, to treat their man well so he'll want to convert to Christianity. That's really what it says. (1 Peter 3:1)

Lol, just give them some mead and tell them, "This mead that you are drinking, represents Odin's gift of
Óðr/the black flame.":smilingimp: Lmao

That's up there as an option as well. If they catch me on a High Day (solstice/equinox/cross quarter), I'll make then sit and watch me perform my Ritual. ;)

It was an extremely rude thing to do -- it violated your good graces as a host. Shame on them.

I think this needs more explanation. I am a conservative follower of Christ... and I don't have "proselytizing" over everything else. Part of it, yes, but not over everything. Yes, I would be angry too over what they did.

I find more often now that we want to paint everything with a broad brush when someone does something wrong, politically, socially and everything else. It is a shame because if cancels the important part of life... dialogue.

I was Baptist for a long time and evangelism was stressed heavily. I guess it depends on the denomination.

I believe basically you are saying the evangelical school was so bad that you just had to make your life worse to compensate. Does that make any Sense?
