First, the sun won’t run out of hydrogen to fuse for another 4 to 5 billion years from now.
We, humans, the Homo sapiens, have only been around less than 300,000 years, which is only fraction of time on Earth.
With the overpopulation of humans and dwindling natural resources, I would be surprise if the Homo sapiens would be still around even 100 thousand years.

@ChristineM said, we have been stupidly destructive, plus no other creatures on Earth have been so bloody wasteful with resources and polluting the Earth with waste.
I am not worry about the sun going red giant any time soon.
Yes, it would make sun become too hot to be habitable, and it would most likely burn away our atmosphere.
If there were no life on Earth, then yes, Evolution wouldn’t be needed, but it is still a robust science about the biodiversity of life.
