Executive Orders

As for me, I am not a fan of them. They allow the president to make unilateral decisions with circumvents our checks and balances.
It does not circumvent the Constitutional checks and balances: the courts can void them, and Congress and nullify them and direct the President what it wants her/him/it to do.

The process is of course usually delayed, because it takes time for Congress to respond to almost anything, and it takes time for lawsuits from appropriate plaintiffs to be filed and heard.

Where are all those on the Right who never wasted a moment to decry Obama's use of executive orders as tyrannical and un-American? They are strangely silent, it would seem.

I guess if you're:

1) Using executive orders to free narcotic king pins, cartel members, and other violent criminals...

2) Using them to free terrorists and fly them well beyond our reach

3) Using them to free people (Chelsea Manning) who disclosed intelligence w/o even the slightest amount of discretion

I'll have a beef with them...

If you are using them to keep the IRS from destroying families with Obamacare taxes, creating jobs, or better yet closing down Chiraq then maybe I haven't any complaints. I'm also not a fan of government paying for abortions. That's because your oopsies are not my fault so I don't want to pick up the check, and no other reason.

Executive orders are used to "fine tune" what already has been passed, versus forging new territory. With Trump's declaration on the wall, for example, he may run across a legal problem in the funding area if he moves funds from programs that have been earmarked for $X in other areas, and then having those same funds used to build the wall.

Agree. Very much so.

I think executive orders should only be given within the executive branch as administrative orders only.

EO's are just a way for a president to circumvent Congressional approval and limitations to what can be ordered needs to be defined by the SCOTUS.

Trump has signed several already and is set to sign several more regarding immigration. What is your opinion on executive orders? Thoughts? Ideas?
Trump has done only one thing in his mess that has been commendable. He has made moves to end the TPP. Now hopefully he gives us a better deal that isn't going to shoot the majority of Americans in the foot.
