I live in Chicago, I want to learn more about Buddhism-Hinduism. i recently had several ephanies and reading more online articles about buddhism, Hinduism and philosophies I am very interested in enlightenment.

Where do I go... Books to read? Sites people recommend for 'support'?
I realize much of what I read regarding some eastern philosophies/religions as true and the more I live the more I realize it. I want to start doing.

I have even tried practicing meditation on my own however, I not sure what I am doing is correct or not...

Any suggestions. Thanks.

I've been learning from 3 people mostly - Gjallarhorn, Dyanaprajna, and Shuddhavastva. G and D are pretty knowledged in Buddhism, S is pretty knowledged in Hinduism.

Any book by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh would be helpful. (Touching Peace, Being Peace, Living Buddha, Living Christ, etc.)

It would help people make recommendations if you clarified some what aspects you're interested in.

Here are a few:
Hindu Dharma: A Universal Way of Life - Swami Chandrashekharendra Sarasvati
Mother of the Buddhas - Lex Hixon

Zazen is not hard to learn. A good path is to see how your practice reflects with life in general. It's interesting at what tends to crop up.

I would recommend going to a temple or two. Talking with real live people can be instructive I think. The Access To Insight site has good introductory articles on the Buddha Dhamma. Turning The Wheel of Truth by Ajahn Sucitto gives a succinct commentary on the Buddha's first teaching.
