Eye Has Not Seen

Eyes to See

(pic my kid took of the moon)

I lie awake listening to the wind and the waves embracing the shore underneath a starlit sky. And just ponder a little about life.

Isn't it amazing, this life that we have? The universe so vast, beyond comprehension. The earth filled with amazing beauty: the beauty in a cactus flower, the majesty of a dolphin swimming happily on the waves. The caress of a lover, the sounds of laughter of friends.

And I come to this realization about this life: it is worth living. The emotional wounds are harder to bare than the physical scars, but in the end all that we go through in this brief and ephemeral life is momentary and light. While what awaits is eternal and beyond grasping. 'Eye has not seen and ear has not heard, nor have their been conceived in the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love him.'

Isn't it a marvelous thing the ability to see and hear? But of more importance are the simple acts of kindness we can show each other.

The sun was low and the wind was cold. He was sickly thin. Sitting outside the local convenience store, waiting for the kindness of strangers. What was wrong with him? Did he develop a sickness, was he born with a mental disease, did he destroy his mind from using drugs? I didn't know.

I sat on the concrete next to him. His hair matted, his clothes filled with holes and filthy. The look of death was in his eyes. He asked me for some money in a stutter. I opened the bag in my hand and pulled out a bowl of soup I brought from home. Took the lid off and handed him a spoon.

The tendrils of the steam licked the cold night air as he shivered and began to eat. I didn't say much. He didn't either. I just sat there by him for a few minutes. Then reaching over gave him a hug. I don't know when the last time he felt the warmth of an embrace and thought what I would want if I was in his situation? I said, 'I love you, and so does God'. He trembled in my arms, he felt so weak. And he cried.

I never saw him again.

Jesus said that in the last days the love of the greater number of people will cool off because of the increasing of lawlessness. We live in a society where rebellion and disobedience is revered. Where obedience and subjection is frowned upon. The rulers are cruel. The stars are egotistical and narcissistic. The optimistic become pessimists. The ones that want to change things learn the hard way they cannot.

The result of rebellion against God and his rule. Satan's law reigns supreme, 'do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.'

Men turn their backs on God and his word. They say' bad is good, and good is bad'. They blame God for their misery all the while ignoring his sovereignty.

Humans are tiny, our existence brief, we are here one day and gone the next. The blinking of an eye and we are no more. Like the summer grass that sprouts, that dries under the hot sun, and then is blown away on a hot wind.

For many, it seems that this is the way that it always has and always will be. But sin was introduced by a spirit angel known as Satan a few seconds ago on the cosmic timeline, a mere 6,000 years ago.

God has allowed that rebel along with humans to reject his loving and perfect rule. Satan coveted the worship belonging to God. Cruel humans hungry for power follow in his footsteps and thus the world that we live in today.

But it was not always so. And will not always be. God does not force anyone to do what is right. He gives all freedom and freewill. The time is coming when there will be no more need to allow this brief rebellion against his righteous rule anymore and he will end it.

The rebellious will be destroyed. And this wicked, world full of rebels, will be left as a remembrance for all future generations into eternity about the folly of disobedience, rebellion, and independence from God. The question of universal sovereignty will have been answered once and for all times.

And this brief aberration of sin and wickedness along with pain, misery, sorrow, sickness, and death will be no more.

I have come to this conclusion observing human history and reading the Bible:
Humans were not created with the capacity, mental, physical, or spiritual to rule and govern themselves. It is true. They have tried, and failed miserably.

Rulership needs be from a supernatural source. It needs to be from God. Only he can correct the complex problems we face. He can control the elements, he can raise the dead to life, he can cure the sick. He can end old age and death. He can make everyone have an abundance so there are no sick, no hungry, no homeless. It is an easy thing for him

Life is a gift freely given. And it is only by means of undeserved kindness, mercy, and love that we have hope. No one can say they have a right to live or created themselves. Do we partake of the undeserved kindness of God by accepting his rule and his way of doing things and enjoy things beyond the imagination forever? Or stick to this stubborn course of rebellion and hatred that will end very shortly and abruptly?

Life and death. The blessing and the curse. Each can chose for themselves. Everyone is free, but with that freedom comes the responsibility for your actions and each will reap what they sow.

Future generations will live in paradise, in peace, in love, in true freedom as children of God with everlasting life, never dying, never growing old, never getting sick. Then, that boy who now lies asleep will raise up and live with perfect health in paradise.

I fine with ruling myself.
It is everyone else I'm worried about.

So you do not feel capable of making good decisions, good choices?
Most folks I feel are ok, they got their quirks but generally ok.

It only takes a few people to dominate what gets reported in the news. Most folks I find are just trying to get through life the best they can. No reason for them to be punished for that.

It is a nice promise of a future but for now it is only a promise. For now, we have to deal with today.

I hope your kid becomes an astronomer. Damm that's a nice picture.

I always have had a love for astronomy. It started when I was in the 3rd grade and found an Astronomy magazine in the school library.

Back in the states I had a 16" Dobsonian that was used quite often. I would take it to the star parties in the area as well. I still have a telescope and a good 7x50 pair of binoculars, and still enjoy going out on quiet clear nights on the beach to view the stars.

So you do not feel capable of making good decisions, good choices?

I guide myself by these scriptures with respect to your question:

"Trust in Jehovah with all your heart,
And do not rely on your own understanding.
In all your ways take notice of him,
And he will make your paths straight.
Do not become wise in your own eyes
."
-Proverbs 3:5-7.

"I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step."-Jeremiah 10:23.

"So let the one who thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall."-1 Corinthians 10:12.

So, how do you know it is working?
