Fake Paganism

Paganism, a fake philosophy and theology with no historical roots left.

Stealing Christian symbols like eggs rabbits and trees.

A religion of cultural appropriation, and reactionary sub-cultural children.

Did I get this right Christians? Atheists?
It doesn't sound right to me... but I'm not a Christian or atheist...

I've been down many different religious paths in my life, and paganism is my favorite to have walked down. Druidry spoke to me on a deeper level than any of them, and even now I carry the lessons I've learned from it. It's helped me to live a better, happier life

If folks speak negatively on paganism, then meh. They don't have to like it. Not all paths resonate with everyone

On the principle of independent investigation, I approve. I also like your attitude of not being upset if people talk negatively about your religion. I'm not that good on the latter myself.

It is mostly a modern reimagining that seeks to reconnect with the past, but cannot escape the very different cultural and intellectual frameworks that make up modernity. Not sure why that would make it "fake" though.

Stealing Christian symbols like eggs rabbits and trees.

Not sure why basic things from our immediate environment would belong to any tradition. People have found their own meanings in their surroundings since time immemorial without having to "steal" them from other people.

Claiming cultural ownership of things like seasons, animals and trees makes little sense to me,

A religion of cultural appropriation, and reactionary sub-cultural children.

A modern religion with many influences from the cultures it emerged from and exists in, same as all the others.

A broad idea of cultural appropriation or ownership of culture as IP is not something I find helpful in understanding human societies.

Did I get this right Christians? Atheists?

This atheist thinks otherwise.

I do think it's valid for folks to be upset when people say negative things about their religion. When people denigrate a religion they aren't just targeting the institution itself, but also an entire people group and their culture

Keep in mind, there is a very big difference between legitimate criticism and denigration

What makes it easier for me to not be upset about when it comes to denigration of my beliefs or practices has been that I've always been more of a solitary practitioner. The only person that needs to walk my path is me, and unsolicited opinions from people who don't know me don't mean much

To the contrary, my solitary eclectic travel up the path of paganism is not rooted in any past but my own, as I try to experience and understand my experiences without imposing (too much) of preconceived ideas--especially historical and other-cultural understandings--on how I practice and what I believe.

As for how others view paganism...I'll just note that there are lots of views from ignorance...

That explains where all the missing Easter eggs went from all the Easter egg hunts over the years.

Paganism is a pejorative those of the mainstream religions use to call those who are not of the mainstream religions

I don't announce it everywhere but I wear it without shame or guilt. When those sorts of people think everything is untrue and evil, they can stuff it. I've never felt it to be a perjorative term.

Not correct. In one part of the world, there are a billion pagans, following their age-old traditions happily and living prosperously. It represents two major pagan streams which merged together, Indo-Europen and indigenous Indian, the mix now known as Hinduism. Thoroughly pagan.
To the extant of lighting fire with rubbing of sticks, offering to their deities barley which they normally do not eat, asking their deities to sit on a special species of grass (Doorva - a sort of prickly grass), considering only wooden implements and wool as pure.
I won't comment about other religions.
