The virus is very likely to pose a far more severe threat to you than the vaccine.
With a well tested vaccine I agree, but not with this vaccine. Wiser to wait till 4 billion people took it in the first few month; I survived 12 month, so a few extra month is no problem for me, esp. since we hardly have infections here with all the cows;). And I read the prescription which clearly indicated I should not take it. So far I have never got the flu, so I just continue my routine, seems to work for me.

I hope all these nutcase anti-vaxers don't take the medicine and give more deserving people a chance sooner.
It may be a mass "Darwin Award" moment.

Indeed. Survival of the fittest. In the early part of the 21st Century, the fittest are those who accept science. All other things being equal, we pro-science mask wearers will fare better than our Trump-Sheeple counterparts.

I think being hesitant to put something in your body that you know little about, that's totally new and when one of the vaccine companies has a shady past, is valid. I don't think people are trying to be malicious. We're all stressed out and unsure about the future here. I don't think demonizing people is fair or useful.

I'll not demonize. Why should people suddenly start believing in science? Trump still disdains mask wearing, so should his followers. I'm all for people refusing to get vaxxed - see above.

Given that even for us older folk with pre-existing conditions, it will be a month or two, I'll bet that by the time you can get it, a very large number of people will have preceded you.

But the mere fact that senior politicians both left and right are getting it now is VERY reassuring to me.

That is not very reassuring to me. Immune system has to do with the ability to fight and have a strong ego, and especially be ad rem. Politicians are very good at that:D, so they won't get virus trouble so easy, unless they have diabetes or some other disease that impacts their immune system. So, side effects won't show in most politicians. You could see it with Trump, within 1 week he killed the corona virus, I was even surprised that corona stuck to him for 1 week:D.

BUT it's good that they give the right example, and they should, having caused so much inconsistency the last 12 months. That is the only way to get people to take the vaccine. In Holland 40% still don't want to take it, so I think the king and queen should set the right example too:D, and Rutte too

Its not something I much care to
talk about, but -
He'd had a shot every year.

On the last one, he developed guillaume-barret
(Pardon my French) syndrome as a result.

It was really bad.
Sorry to hear this, my condolences. Thank you for sharing your experience.
