Favorite historical period to study?

I find interesting to study anything which is very old. From books, at least 1500 years, if I can see the architeture personally, 300 years is ok.

I can't explain, though, why exactly I behave this way, I think that I aim for an enough time distance so as I can see it as a completely different reality, and having this way more freedom to imagination.
