The original Dawn of the Dead is far more personal, but it is very much a product of its time. The 2004 remake is good for what it is, but it is not a particularly original movie.

The original living dead trilogy is a no-brainer... but on the wackier side, the first two return of the living dead movies are pretty great. They don't take themselves seriously, especially the first one. Can't ask for more than punks, gore and 80's shenanigans.

Dellamorte Dellamore and Reanimator are pretty great too.

I think the fast zombie concept is silly (yeah I know how that sounds)

I'm tempted to say "Return of the Living dead" because of just how subtly misanthropic it is. However, 28 Days/Weeks later were both breath taking and both Romero and Fulci deserve a mention for making me fall in love with zombies in the first place.

Shaun of the Dead was ferking hillarious. I still find the scenes and dialogue classic to this day.

Another great one I saw recently is Dead Snow, it's about these nazi zombies that come back to life.

Fido was quite refreshing for a zombie movie, but one take was enough of it.
Zombieland, just has lots of chuckles...

I liked Sean of the Dead and the Resident Evil movies. I've never really cared for zombie movies though.
