Who's your favourite band/singer?
My favourite band is Linkin Park, they are awsome and very inspirational.
My favourite song of theirs is my december:

this is my december
this is my time of the year
this is my december
this is all so clear

this is my december
this is my snow covered home
this is my december
this is me alone

and i
just wish that i didnt feel
like there was something i missed
and i
take back all the things i said
to make you feel like that
and i
just wish that i didnt feel
like there was something i missed
and i
take back all the things i said to you

and i give it all away
just to have somewhere to go to
give it all away
to have someone to come home to

this is my december
these are my snow covered dreams
this is me pretending
this is all i need

and i
just wish that i didnt feel
like there was something i missed
and i
take back all the things i said
to make you feel like that
and i
just wish that i didnt feel
like there was something i missed
and i
take back all the things i said to you

and i give it all away
just to have somewhere to go to
give it all away
to have someone to come home to

this is my december
this is my time of the year
this is my december
this is all so clear

and i give it all away
just to have somewhere to go to
give it all away
to have someone to come home to.

I love screaming to their music if i'm in a really bad mood, it really helps, and a while ago when i was going through a really bad time i could really relate their songs to different situations in my life and listening to them helped me sort alot of stuff out.

So who are your favourite bands/singers and why?

ooh...

Matisyahu

Sami Yusuf

Dan Bern

Bruce Springsteen

John Fogherty

i'm a huge fan of classic rock... CCR, Skynyrd, etc. i love religious music as well. and Matisyahu and Sami are definately my favorites. Sami's voice is lovely and uplifting, while Matisyahu's lyrics and strength make you want to dance. Bruce *is* The Boss, Dan Bern is my man and an *awesome* song writer, and Fogherty is just great. still rockin'.

Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) is probably my favorite singer, though Paul is right - Kate Bush deserves a mention.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite band, but I'll try to limit to a few:
Don Caballero, Naked City (best screaming ever on Torture Garden), Mr. Bungle, Pink Floyd, and if I had to pick an all-time favorite, King Crimson.

Too many favorites, as my iPod would nod in agreement.

In my British phase, I loved the everything but the girl (pre-Techno), Style Council, Squeeze, the Clash, Joe Jackson and elvis Costello.

In high school it was Van Halen and KISS

For most of the last few years I love Dave Matthews Band and the old classics like Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, and Led Zepplin.

I love em all, too!!!

I guess one of my faves would have to be the Nylons (acapella group) because of the way they do covers of oldies and sound like there is music playing when it is just them.

Then, there are : B52s, Eagles, ToneLoc, tons of oldies people, Sinatra of the 70s, Suede (the female jazz/ballad singer-talk about a beautiful clear voice), then many others no longer around like Mama Cass, Janis, Karen Carpenter, etc all for the sheer beauty of vocal tone.

Who's your favourite band/singer?

Anyone who can provide definitive answer to such a question needs to further expand their musical horizons.

I have dozens of "favorites", and literally thousands of vinyl albums, cassettes, and CDs that readily inspire exaltations of pure existence; or instigate introspection and reflection; or call to memory specific moments in place or time...all of which are priceless and irreplaceable within their own contexts.

Music is the human "soul" itself stirred to expression beyond words alone, and no single band or singer can ever hope to epitomize the entire scope and breadth of everything either meaningful or momentary within a lifetime of memories.

Yes...this is a cop-out answer...and I feel just fine about it. ;-)
