I agree and frubals to you. He is definitely the greatest classical guitarist of all time in my opinion. Next to him I would put Francisco Tarrega, who is my favourite classical spanish guitar player. The modern guitarist can be traced back to these two pioneering men.

I think that the person who started this thread was speaking more to the rock and roll form of guitar. To which I will tell you that my favourites are Mke McCready of Pearl Jam, Eric Johnson who is a soloist, and Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple.

I love Robert Johnson. I've had "Hot Tamales" or...I can't remember if that is the name of the song or not...stuck in my head at work recently.
"red hots". Anyone who had to check their blood sugar sex magic album to find that one out deserves a pick in the pants...

Simon is awesome.
That can't be said enough. Simon is awesome.

Also a sincere song writer. I would love to jam/perform/rock at least once with her in this lifetime.

Cliff Burton

IMHO, Cliff Burton is the Bass God. I could listen to the three solos he wrote most of (Call of Ktulu, Orion, and Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) all day.

His tracks are clearly the more superior of any of Metallica's. IMHO The singer, who's name I"ve never bothered to learn is a pile of superficial **** with a crap voice.

For most of Metallica's songs, I can't imagine James Hetfields voice being replaced.

One of my friends claims Joe Perry is the greatest ever, but I find him to be slightly above average.

The second half of Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) is pretty hard to play. I'm still working on it. I really liked the Orion solo, and all of my friends thought that it was a guitar solo until I played it for them.

It almost does sound like a guitar solo, since its tones are high. But it just goes to show the beuty of bass when more than the top four or five frets are used.
