Favourite Metal band?

what's your favourite metal band? (if you have one)

Mine would have to be the 80's heavy metal band W.A.S.P. (but they're still singing now)

I used to be a HUGE Metallica fan...until St. Anger which is the most G-d-Awful CRAP i've ever heard!!!! It's like the same frigin song over and over again!!!:verymad:

right now i'd have to say Disturbed is my favorite
although i do love...
Staind (especially their really hard stuff like on their first 2 albums, ever since they did that stupid video w/ Fred "I'm a massive Tool" Durst their singles just haven't been hard enough i have to listen to the album to really get that from them)
Kittie (thier first album only)
Rob Zombie (and of course White Zombie "Devil Man!! Devil Man!!"
and of course the Zues of heavy metal
Ozzy Ozborne (which includes his Black Sabbath days!)
:jam: :jam:

there are just so many...

I was going to say 'My wedding ring' thinking I didn't know any 'metal' Bands- :jiggy:

but, of course, I guess Black Sabbath, Deep Purple & Motorhead all figured pretty high in my music liking.:)

I would have to go with CLUTCH. I enjoy the guitar riffs, they are intelligent, they never disappoint with new releases and they are a spectacle to behold in concert.

I absolutely agree, when I heard the album i was severly dissapointed

I also like Deep Purple but they're more of a swing band.

I ussually listen to the old stuff or the new unknown bands.

Black Sabbath, Metalicca (All albums up to and including S&M), KORN, Black Flag and Megadeath. These of course are the mainstream bands that I was most into. There were a lot of other bands that did not make it into the main stream because they were either black metal, death metal or both, but very talented none the less. These were bands like Bathory, Immortal and Sodom. Very talented people but a little too morbid for the mainstream and I have to say sometimes I was a little uncomfortable listening to someof their stuff, but the melody and music was unbelievable. My favorite pure metal bands of all time, and one that stuck to their roots was Pantera, Slayer and Mozart. Yeah, Mozart was the worlds first metal head.

Metallica up until "And Justice for All," one of the best metal albums ever. Cannibal Corpse. They are such remarkably talented musicians.

I agree. 'Master of Puppets' slightly shades it for me however.

I don't have a favourite metal band anymore but I have 3 :).

Opeth simply because the sheer diversity of their albums (and even within their songs) whilst still keeping mostly within the single subgenre of death metal, coupled with their wonderful vocals is more than enough to rate them highly in my book. They are just so interesting to listen to.

My second choice is even more progressive metal in the form of Strapping Young Lad who are quite as talented as Opeth but make up for it with the catchiness and agression of their songs.

Lastly is my old favourite, Cradle of Filth. They are by far the best post-Emperor black metal band out there and enfuse new life into a rather stagnant genre with their heavy gothic and pop influences. All that with an incredibly talented vocalist and an increased role of their back up vocalist also looks promising in their latest album.

I agree with everyone who didn't like St Anger. I still listen to it occasionally because, on its own, it is bad music but compared to the rest of their albums it is definitely substandard.

Wow SOGFPP, that is a really good band! I might buy their album when I finally get some cash....

Anyone heard Breaking Benjamin's newest album? I could do with a lil less tounge-ring, but the music is G.O.O.D.!

I am growing quite fond of Entombed. I also love Static X, System of a Down, Dimmu Borgir, Pantera, Megadeath, and Metallica. Plus many, many more.

The first two are Death/Black Metal if you haven't heard of them: Morbid Angel, Black Dahlia Murder, Slayer and Pantera. I also like to kick it old school with sabbath and I also love older metallica (...and Justice for all is right on!)

Well, death and black metal bands are very famous in northern and eastern europe for the most. Immortal is actually quite famous and Children of Bodom and Cradle of filth are excellent reprezentants of their genres (although I don't quite like this kind of metal much).

Yeah, Megadeath is definetly excellent even in my little knowledge of thrash metal. Power metal is another fantastic subgenre of heavy. A band that paved the road for it is Europe (known mostly for their song The Final Countdown). A brilliant now'a'days power metal band is the sweedish 'Steel Attack' (excellent riffs).

I'm not a big System of a down or Static X fan (I guess I was born in the wrong century) just because I don't understand alternative/hardcore (or whatever knew thing they sing). I'm one of the few.

I've recently discovered 60's pop and rock'n'roll. It's actually fantastic. I can't get enough of Little John and Shangri La.

I dabble in the dark arts of metal, death, goth, and any other kind of metal.....I like Staind. I kill for metalica. Beyond those, my love just inspires toward oblivion....yea....
Look at me
I'm so pathetic
I can't believe
I'm just an addict
Never needed anyone
To help me
I'm begging you
Please come save me from myself
Save me from myself

I wanted to mention Dimmu Borgir but I couldn't spell it. I used to have one of their CDs but I lent it to a friend.
